That's the real deal. And ya, your dealer is a liar. You should clean the filter like you should any other CAI. You can buy recharge kits at autozone or something (K&N sells them). Unless it has the AEM dryflo filter - in which case you would NOT use the oil recharge kit.

Looks authentic. Make sure the filter gets cleaned roughly every 15k miles.

That's a good point. The visible part is just a "bypass valve" to allow air to enter if the actual filter is submerged in water (in which case you fail anyway).

So the filter that will need to be cleaned at a regular interval is actually in your wheel well. You'd need to remove the bumper or the fender liner to get it out and clean it. Bumper is easier IMO.

When was the last time you cleaned it?

And if that's a "I don't know." ... how long has it been installed?

Probably safe to say it needs a cleaning.

how many miles does the car have on it? i would bet that it came installed on the car, so whatever the odometer says, is how many miles are on the filter as well.

I think TRD filters are aem dryflow's. so don't use a recharge kit, just soap and water and let drain

you could use that cleaning kit or you can use a K&N filter cleaning kit. there will be instructions included inside the cleaning kit, but the usual procedure is to spray the filter with one of the cleaning solutions, let it soak a bit, then rinse from the inside out (put water from inside of filter and let it pass towards the outside). let it dry completely, then use the oil solution and lightly coat the filter outside with it....

it goes in more detail on the actual instructions.

@FlintMica2005, no the TRD filter is not a AEM dryflow filter.

Any of you know the specs of the AEM dryflo filter? What size filter should I get for the TRD CAI?

i just took out my TRD filter last week but i did not check. I do know that the TRD intake piping is 2.5 inches...so it might be 2.5 inch filter?
