Default Resonator

I have the Weapon R SRI and TRD axel back exhaust........I would like to change the resonator that is on the car.....just ot give my self a sound that is just a bit differant from everybody else around here with TRD exhaust........

If I goto a longer resonator will it put more deep tones in exhaust or do I need to shorten it.......I would kinda like a bit throatier deeper sound at high RPM and less of the normal tC exhaust tone.

the SRI gives me a lot of exterior sound so I wnat to mate it a bit better to the exhaust sound.........also what brands are good and what are not.....opinions welcome......I cna weld so I will be installing myself.......thanks guys.

if no.. and only have a trd axle back why do you want a resonator... save up some money and get a HKS axle back!!!!!!!

what ever you decide on. just dont get a glasspack and put it in backwards as that will hinder performance. IMO

You're rolling the rasp dice here. The stock resonator is actually a true Helmholtz resonator which is a sound chamber with no packing which filters out rasp over a certain frequency range. Since it does not affect the overall noise level of the exhaust, removing it (i.e. replace with straight pipe) would only add an annoying rasp at certain RPM's.

To remove this rasp, you will have to add an aftermarket resonator, which is a straight-through muffler with packing which will make your exhaust more quiet than it was before.

If you just want to change your sound without rasp or hassle, I would change out your TRD muffler instead.

Cool thanks guys.....i wasn't sure if just changing out the resonator would do much or not....so i will leave it be for now......on many of the older cars I used to build we used diferant lengths of glasspacks to get differant tones out of the exhaust....for example a 16" on one pipe and and a 18" on the other pipe.....gave a chord tone to the exhaust.....it was worth asking though.
