Default resonator length and brand recomendations ?

I just bought a megan header and s pipe and also a magnaflow catback and since everyone is claiming a bunch of rasp Iwuld go ahead and put a resonator in . also has anyone put a highflow cat in instead of a resonator to get rid of the rasp and if so did it work ? thanks for any input possible .

Are you talking about replacing the stock cat with a hi-flow unit or adding a second cat to the midpipe?

If you replace the stock cat it will probably make the rasp worse since flow will be increased which is the source of the rasp.

If you plan to add a second cat it may help but with the much higher cost of a cat vs resonator and the potential to lose more HP than with a resonator it doesnt really add up.

A resonator has been proven to reduce rasp with a header and its realtivley cheap. A second hi-flow cat isnt proven and is pricey...its your money and time though...if you do it let us know how it turns out.

i actually went 3 days ago to put my new muffler in and asked them to put in a 2nd hi flow resonator. got rid of the rasp. its not as loud but i dont mind driving with my windows down. i think "instigator" is running a magnaflow 30inch resonator. i opted for 2 cheapo preforated resonator thats lightwieght. works just fine. hope that helps

my big issue with not having a cat is the nasty smell of the fumes it produces . so I am guessing that 1 30" resonator will be enough to get rid of rasp? and also if I get a header s pipe and magnaflow catback I will no longer have a cat?

I think you should be ok with 1 long 30incher but I dont know for sure. Removing the cat isnt so bad to fit another one in there because the fumes smell really really good!!!!

i have the stock cat on. i got my resonator from a local muffler shop. just look around for local muffler shops and get some prices. some places are way more expensive than others. the resonator is a 30" magnaflow magnapak resonator.
