Default resonator n00b questions

What should I look for in a resonator exactly? I want to build a full exhaust but want to avoid as little rasp as possible. Only going about 2.25" piping.

DC header - Inivdia S-pipe - megan racing mid-pipe - TRD axleback

Thats basically my planned setup. Do you guys think the magnaflow resonator would be enough? And which size should I order? i couldn't really find enough info to really have me make a decision so now I"m asking ;p

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=302

Which size should I be looking for? I found that summit racing sells them but have no idea which one I should buy!

This is what you're most likely going to want.

The pipes you're getting are 2.25" in diameter so your options would have to have an in/out diameter of 2.25". I believe that should be a decent enough size to eliminate that rasp.

Yeah wondered about that too. Have even seen some folks squeeze 2 30" resonators into their exhaust to kill their rasp.

Everybody's header/exhaust setup is different, as is their tolerance for rasp. Folks will post up the length of their resonator(s) but not the thickness which is just as important. We know that the thicker and longer the muffler is the quieter it is - a 6" diameter resonator is going to be quieter than a 4" diameter version of the same length. Less clear is how much longer that 4" needs to be to equal the muffling of the 6" diameter.

Whatever size resonator you buy make a sound clip and add it to the exhaust clip post, and list the dimensions of your resonator(s) so folks (like me) can figure out what works and what doesn't.

I totally agree with Mid_Life_tC-risis. I am in the market for resonators/uni mufflers. Been surfing this site and nobody seems to have specs or sound clips. Has anyone fit bigger then 4" round under the car without clearence issues? For instence a magnaflow 5" or even 6"round? I need to know what will kill my rasp!!!! I'm selling my MEGAN mid pipe so I can get a custom one done. Need to know brands, size round, length, and how many? I dont want hear-say...only what you actually have that works. O and oviously I have a header otherwise I wouldnt be having this problem.

Since the stock resonator is 5" diameter, a 5" Magnaflow will fit no problem.

I'm also looking at a 6" Magnaflow resonator to replace my current (& way too small) one, I believe it will still leave good clearance ... but can't say for sure right now, I'm not getting under the car again until after the holidays.

Slightly off-topic and I don't feel like starting a new thread, but how well do these magnaflows work with turbo setups? It's becoming an option and I really don't want my car to be insanely loud (atleast the back half).
