Default RWD configuration?

Hey guys was wondering if it was possible to make our TC into a RWD configuration? Asking cause I wanna try and break from the pack so to speak hehe. Yes I do realize it may cost a lot of money. Just need constructive opinions/comments no flames please.

im sure its possible... i've seen a 600 hp rear wheel drive ford focus.

would it be worth it? probably not.

plus then your frame might bend... It would open a whole new can of worms

highly not worth it, too much custom fabrication and too many problems along the way. anything that involves moving your gas tank is not cool IMO lol.

but of course, anything is possible with enough money. but surely not worth it.

The "no flames please" in your original post leads me to believe you already know what most of us think about your idea. If you're going to do it yourself, start shopping for drivetrains and break out the cutting torch. If you're going to have a shop do it, fill a garbage bag with money.

If it was me I'd go buy an RX-8, Evo, STi, etc. instead.

Possible, yes with enough skill. I have already started measuring my Xb for a transplant. Granted I won't start mine for awhile I want to see what I am up against. But I am going to bastardize the car in all reality if my plans work out. Just think about a chopped RWD Xb with ~450hp in electric blue. So dream big there always has to be a few of us nuts out there.

The Rav4 uses the same engine as us and it's AWD. Now there's a worth-while conversion. You could have the first AWD tC.

I saw on TV somewhere a story about someone who took a Honda CRV transfercase and transmission housing and hooked it up to an Integra. They only ran the Rear portion fo the AWD system and had a rear drive B18. Was pretty neat to see a drifting integra =)

Good luck to you if you want to go the RWD way. It will be entertaining to see =)

Theoretically, it shouldn't be all that bad. All you need is the transfer case (probably integrated w/ tranny), drive shaft and rear axle.

The tC has a 106.3" wheelbase with a 59.3" rear track.
The Rav4 has a 98" wheelbase with a 58.9" rear track.

Based on this, a longer driveshaft will most likely be needed. Spacers could be used to make up the difference in rear track. Not sure about the gear ratios of the manual 5-speed Rav4, but you'd probably have to use the gears from the tC's tranny.

If they can make a Lamborghini Murcielago with an Automatic Transmission, then you can have a RWD tC.

I hope you got the bank that Kobe does.

And be slower than stock without a good amount of additional power just to maintain stock driveability. You're looking at 30% parasitic loss over the ~10% of normal FWD. Not to mention the additional weight.

Stock auto tC's will be faster than a bolt-on AWD manual tC.

But this has been discussed to death.

And a RWD conversion is no better in terms of money being ____ed away. There's a line between "being unique" and "assinine waste of money, effort, and metal."
