Default s-pipe question

sorry if this has been posted before... i didn't find it, but....

will a new s-pipe (say megan) fit between my stock headers and stock mid??

and would it just be better and worth it to get headers too?

Yes, an aftermarket Spipe will fit between your stock header and midpipe. I've got an Invidia S-pipe and it fits great. If you get a header, the power gain is decent but the sound is typically horrible. you will have to add resonators to your midpipe to kill the rasp. I would suggest running stock header and buying an aftermarket S-pipe, Midpipe, and Axleback. It'll sound much better IMO.

why does everyone say to get an aftermarket mid pipe, what is really the power gains from a 150 or so part. the s-pipe i can see because the bends aren't clean, and of course the axle back part, but the mid pipe looks like decent size tubing, and still has a small cat and resonator so my ? is, why does everyone say to buy a mid and add resonators when the stock one looks like a great piece, i dont want to be a tread jacker, but i still haven't understood the theory behide that

Because the stock mid pipe has a cat.

that cat doesnt hold back near as much as the first one, and besides, alittle backpressure is good for are motors, unless your running nascar, straightline performance needs the back pressure to build more torque to help launch the car. that 1hp you might gain from switching out the midpipe isn't worth the 150 bucks its going to cost or more, ill run 93 octane to make up that difference

CATs have became alot less restrictive as the technology improves. But the gains are in taking the primary cat out. Illegal, but helpfull

thats exactually what i was trying to say, the factory mid pipe is good enough to use that money and send it else where on the car, unless your balling, theres no point cause the power gains arent wroth the cost and the sound is even wrost when you go that route

so long story short....for a clean exhaust setup go:
stock headers
aftermarket s-pipe
stock mid pipe
aftermarket axleback

good to know because I was unsure on the midpipe daboggle as well cuz I noticed it looked pretty good when I was under there installing my TRD sway bar the other day
