Scion Tc 2007.....better on gas?
So i had the 2007 scion tc auto since Tuesday, and i have 375 miles on it and still the R has not come on. I had a 2005 scion tc stick, and I have never even got over 350 without the R light coming on.
Is this the benefit of having an auto....
MAN I WANT A STICK AGAIN.....
I just wanted to share my experience...I mean I guess I am happy for the good gas mileage.

I"m 19 and drive hard, not all the time, but i mostly shift above 3k... and as I said ealier i get over 300 b4 my lite goes on. I have a few mods too like a CAI, I know if you don't floor it constantly a CAI will actually bump your milage up a bit. Maybe you guys in the 200's should ease up a bit. I average 24-26 mpg in the city for the most part, except when I go on a rampage, which is above the manufacture's specs.

Well I got it filled from the dealer, and I am a record freak and I keep a notebook filled with gas reciepts and a record sheet, I am going to fill tom for the first time on my scion tc 07 and I at at 375 right now, and the R light still hasnt come on.
I am in break in period, but I know for a fact my 5 speed didnt ever get this high on one tank, no where near.....O_O

my car has an auto tranny. i ran very close to 200 miles on half tank, when i drove the car from NY to FL keys. this is with a/c on (so obviously the windows were closed), a passenger weighing approx. 180lbs., rear of car loaded with 4 luggages, car running on mostly flat stretches of highway, in cruise control. this was when my car was stock, though i had the emx wheels on already that time inflated to 36psi (front) / 32psi (rear). i think it was around 65 deg F to 80 deg F outside, varying from dry to humid (affects intake air temp and combustion).
but if we talk about averages, and consider city driving (as in manhattan lol), apparently the mpg will be a lot less.
**just in case** you don't know yet, having the right tire pressure also helps get better mpg. when i ride my mountain bike with lower psi, i have to pedal harder on pavement and highly packed terrain, than if i ran higher psi on the tires. same is true with your car. just don't over inflate it otherwise it won't be comfortable for you and the car's suspension.

I live in dallas where it gets so freaking hot! but most of the time I leave my a/c off and I think that has a lot to do with getting more miles out of your tank.

But i still don't see how you could get 375 outa that with no light on either, even if you're still breaking it it. Unlimited77, is yours a 5spd or an auto?

You are going to see a lot of variation. The mpg estimates are just that, estimates. I average 24 mpg total, city and highway. That is an average of all tanks since about october of last year. So I see about 290 before the light comes on in town and see up to 385 on the highway. So that doesnt sound too far off. Mine is a 5 spd. If I am driving all city I get around 20 - 22 mpg and on road trips I see 30 - 31 running 75 mph.

I've been doing mostly city driving lately, and i drive very moderately, as i try to keep the revs around 2000-2500 in the automatic, and i avg around 22-23, getting 300 by the light is barely possible for me. Somehow, according to some of you guy's posts, i just feel like i should be getting more, lol, but then, i guess thats what scion advertised(22-23 city).
