Default shell gas....not shell gas

Since the day i bought my tC till today i've benn using shell gas. I have one located around the corner from my house on a busy street and the price is always high. Well since last month i've found a shell station thats 10 mins from my house and its on the way to bowling...lol but yeah that shell always have a cheaper gas the premium is always 20 cents cheaper then the one by my house. So i though maybe the area isnt that good...it really isn't. For a month now i've been gettin that gas and for some reason the consumption of my gas have increased. I think maybe they add stuff to the fuel?????

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

I think they've started putting MSG in the gas, to make cars more addicted to it.

Honestly, for the most part, gas is gas. (Except Techron, which is detergent.) Have you changed your driving habits? Any new mods? Any old mods? Dirty filter? Old oil? There's a lot that can contribute to higher gas consumption...I wouldn't be too worried about it unless your fuel economy drops by 5 or more MPG.

ever since i bought my car i've been driving like this...somethime gas extra hard or just cruising....but for the most part its been the same....because at the old station from full to the half point it lasted my a week but now it only last alost 4 days wth the same driving and maybe even less driving....i changed my oil at 3000 miles and its at 5600 right now so i dont think the oils the problem and the new mod would be tail light tint which came out horrible...ebay tints suck...an i just put my injon CAI in like 2 month ago......i still think they added something to the fuel.....i have the same problem with kroger gas too.

you cant really gauge gas usage on, from the full to half point lasting 4 days or whatever. There are SO many variables that could be involved.

I suggest tracking your gas mileage and seeing how it truly is.

actually, no, there are a handful of gas stations that are known as top tier gas retailers because they use gas with detergents that don't leave sediments and carbon buildup in engines.

now, your engine will burn cheap gas the same way it burns expensive gas. your maf sensor detects how much air is entering the engine, and adds the proper amount of fuel to make the optimal a/f ratio. the difference is the amount of sediments that will be left in the engine.

now you added an injen cold air intake, that increases the amount of air going into your engine, so your engine sees this and adds more gas so your mpg does go down.

lastely, maybe the gas station 10 mins away doesn't have a very accurate meter and is giving you less gas than it is telling you.

maybe the cut-off sensor is on the pumps are different so one is cutting off later and squezing more gas into your tank?

i was told by a toyota tech that toyota engines don't like Shell gas too much for some reason...

though Shell is top tier, he recommends either 76 or Chevron which i use.

not sure if you have those available.. but check out:

yeah.. i found myself whenever I use Shell it seems to burn thru it a little faster.. not an extreme difference, but 76 gas lasts me a bit longer.

a little while back then i think i had a really good tank run when i had mixed both a little bit of Shell, and filled up with 76..

*shrugs*... now it's just a guessing game then.. maybe it was in my head.. maybe not...

all shell gas is supposed to keep your engine clean, it is all supposed to have detergent in it, don't waste money buying the 91 octane unless your boosted.

91 Octane in GA? We only get 93 here. But draxcaliber's right, no need to buy premium unless you're running boost or something.

OK--a little quiz: What does BP stand for? What does ARCO stand for?

BP is British Petroleum. I don't think I've ever even heard of ARCO.
