They go under the shifter cage to replace the squishy rubber bushings that are OEM. Helps to give your shifts a more solid feel. Definitely worth it and only take a few minutes more to install.

They also should raise the cage to allow for the moved pivot ball on the short shifter.

It will usually feel a bit tighter for a while. I installed two of these shifters and both did the same thing. I still love mine though.

Well the shifter is shorter so you need to use a bit more force to shift. The cage bushings are nice, but what's awesome are the cable bushings

They remove the dampening in the shift cable connection. So you end up with crisper shifts.

Whenever you're about to shift into gear you can feel that you have to overcome a bit of a squishy area. That's due to the stock rubber bushings. Nice cable bushings are made of a solid material that don't squish...either you shift into gear or you don't

yea, you should get used to the added stiffness very quickly. and the shifter cable bushings are a good idea as well. they are cheap, easy to install and make the shifts feel more solid.

Is installing the short shifter hard??

Is the Ark short shifter good?

Are these short shifters shorter than the TRD one??

Short shifter install is a breeze. Some say they had a hard time with the press washer, but it really isnt hard at all to take off. 30 -45 minute install tops.

I stand behind the doctorisotope short shift kit. His stuff is quality and his prices beat everyone else last I checked.

It was my first "big" install on a car. The only trouble I had was getting the stupid cup off the shifter. Everything else was pretty straightfoward...with the exception of one clip...that was a _____. Nothing was difficult though..
