Default short shifter only shorterned distance for 2and4

I just install a ralco rz short shifter on my tc (my brother bought it for me really didnt have a choice), it lowered the height of the stick by maybe an inch with the stock know, it feels diferent from stock bc there is no bend in it so the position of the stick needs a bit of getting used or maybe ill bend it. but my problem is that the shift from neutral to 2/4/r is extremely short which is what i expected but from neutral to 1st 3rd and 5th are noticably longer very comparable to stock. is this normal on all short shifters that the lengths are different between 1/3/5 and 2/4/r.

http://www.ultrarev.com/product.php?productid=77965

i also put the ralco rz shifter on my celica befor ei put it on my tc and it is pretty much perfect all the shifts are the same length and really really short, and i was little dispointed that the quality of the shifts werent the same between the two cars

Never heard of it. But if it's a cheapie... there may just not have been much R&D put into it and that might just be how it is. Not sure though.

I read that the celica ralco rz is a replica of the b&m, i guess they didnt do the same for the tc,

so on the other shifters are the shifts all the same length ie. driso, twm...

I don't think I've heard about this problem with any of the other shifters. It's also possible you just got a bad one, who knows. Popular tC ones are TWM of course, Dr Isotope makes a good one, even the Megan Racing is a decent option (what I have).

i bought my fidanza short shifter from ultrarev. near stock heigth. The bottom half of the shifter should be longer than stock. if not, all you got was a chopped and rethreaded stock one....

well i guess its something im goin to have to live with till maybe i get a new one. does anyone know of the best way to bend the shifter to match the angle of the stock shifter? and if at all possible while still on the car, its a _____ to get the retaining clip off ( or maybe where i can get another one of these )

you need a retaining clip. i had to use a hammer to get the pin to move out and back in. I would say thats enough hold to keep it in place lol.
