Default stock headers gutted?

I was wondering if it would be possible to get a stock header and have the cat cut from it? The reason why I want to do this is because I want to have a full exhaust setup but am quite worried about using any aftermarket header because I want to still use the heat shield on the headers. I know that I can buy aftermarket headers and have them jethot coated... but will that be sufficient enough? Kind of worried about my supercharger...

When I was at Precision Muffler some months ago Gabe had a header that had the mounting tabs for the stock heat shield. The problem is that I cannot remember what the manufacturer of that header was. As far as gutting a stock manifold, I do not beleve that would be a good idea.

I have a aftermarket header and I wanted to use the shield too but its better to use header wrap and then coat the header wrap with the wrap paint. It works awesome keeps the head in the header allows the exhaust to flow better by maintaining the temp and not allowing it to cool off. By this I mean if the exhaust cools off to fast it will slow the velocity and keeping the exhaust heat in the manifold (ie header) and the pipes it allows it to maintain a higher velocity.

could this be done just to avoid buying a header??

i figure you would need the antifouler mod, but why would it be such a bad idea

in case you havent noticed, i know nothing about cats
