Not bad at all, I cant get faster than 16.33 Seconds here in South Florida cause its like 100+ degrees at the track. I went on friday and ran once to get a 16.4 only cause I short shifted on first gear at around 5k, and on top of that I went with a full tank of gas.

I dont think I can get it close to that. We are close to 100 F plus about a mile high (Denver). I run 85 octane . Has anyone been able to squeel their tires at 3rd gear?

Here are a couple of runs I did. My first drag in the tC and also my first drag races ever:

First run

Reaction ----- .3590
60ft ---------- 2.9460
330ft --------- 7.6111
1/8 ET -------- 11.3180
1/8 MPH ------ 66.84
1000' ET ----- 14.4619
1/4 ET -------- 17.1160
1/4 MPH ------ 85.04

Second run

Reaction ----- .4779
60ft ---------- 2.2930
330ft --------- 6.8571
1/8 ET -------- 10.4870
1/8 MPH ------ 67.39
1000' ET ----- 13.5942
1/4 ET -------- 16.2420
1/4 MPH ------ 84.72

That was on a stock tC, san rims and tires. Enkei RSVs w/ Toyo Proxes 4 225/40/18. I dont see why anyone wouldn't believe those times so I didnt bother scanning. Not sure if I still have the slips or not though. Had a few other Scion's there that I went with. A sprayed xA ran a 16.1 w/ a 25 shot (about a 85MPH trap). That was also his first time at the strip too, so, he could probably do better as well.

Biggest issue was traction. It didn’t help that the tires weren't inflated like they should have been, but I didn’t find that out until later (stupid of me not to have check first, I know). That first run was will spin throughout all of first, with a panic shift into 2nd at around 5,500, which obviously dropped me into an area of the power band where there's no power. Second run I had a much better launch, but still a lot of wheel spin. Proper levels of clutch engagement seems to be a must for a good launch, just a quick engagement doesn’t seem to work well. Unless you’re not holding the revs and starting from idle, in which case there seems to be a good chance of bogging the engine from start as another tC owner who was there kept doing.

Well hate to bring back an old thread but i figured no need for a new one.

Took my car out to the Moroso Track in Florida and had 8 runs last Saturday night. It was my first time at the track and it was absolutely sweet. Little nervous at first but after that first run its like an addiction.

Anyway for my times:
1st run (ever) = posted 16.1
2nd run = 16.5 (Grinded second)
3rd run = 16.5 (Grinded second)
So needless to say i was ____ed and got jumpy
4th run = 16.7 (red lighted it and slowed down because i thought it wasnt counted! My r/t was -.002 I was so close!)

This time i started to focus and tried relaxing
5th run = 15.95 I was happy to finally hit 15's even if it was 15.9

6th run = 15.78 Definately Felt good

7th run = 15.71 My fasted time and Took down an Se-R but he miss shifted bad and i was laughing the rest of the way.....btw he was running 14's previous to our race.

8th run = 16.01 miss shifted second and was ____ed but it was okay still had a 15.71 to be happy about.

So for the first time at the track it was pretty good...i think anyways.
I went with 5 other tC's one which was turboed (XtC AJ's)
He was running 14.2's i believe.... but could have been pretty had his wheels stopped spinning through 1st and 2nd. Out of all the rest i had the best time and the next closest was 15.8 (bone Stock) i have the Injen CAI .....and last night i just put the Draxas Exhaust and cant wait to go back and see if that helps some!!!!

Well thought i would share my fun!!! anyone else have some times????

I'm disappointed. I hoped tC's would at least run mid 15's stock. Weight means everything..

Heya Fsu1dolfan !! I was at moroso on saturday night as well ;)
I was the 06 Naut. Blue tC ( #9118 ). I dont know if it was you that I had that race with but our best time of the night was 15.75. We never went higher then a 15.95 that night ;)

Bone Stock baby!! , but a little tip: drop the air pressure in ur tires to ~ 19 and it helps with the traction a lil.

I'm POSITIVE if I threw some Azenis on my car I could get it down to 15.6s and If I start to powershift, 15.5s

I'll post my timeslip if ya'll want ;)

actualy if you buy some tires with a softer side wall like the cheap ___ berums i use it helps alot. i droped the presure down to 14 on the fronts and raised the back to 40 to prevent a tad bit of the weight transfer and i ended up doing my all time best in the tc a 15.2 with the little bit of mods i have i know it was all in the launch becoue my 60 foot time was 2.163 or some thing close to that im going to put the slip up today but im damn proud of my tc

Yeah i remember you,
No you raced my friend with the Fint Mica and beat him(miss shifted and he was ____ed)!!! LOL......I had the Silver tC
Thanks for the tip i had my pressure at about 22-23 but i guess i should have gone lower.....Next time you go send me a PM and i'll try to get some people down here together.....i really want to test out my new exhaust!!! It might be all in my head but the new Draxas system is pulling nicely.
Take it easy

So, what RPM's would you guys consider a good launch to reduce the amount of tire spin in 1st gear?

u cant reduce wheel spin...if u want a good launch u need to rev at 2.3 drop THEN push the gas and that should get u a good time

That's what I was leaning towards, the 2k range. I think 2k would probably be as good as it gets.
