Default Tanabe Concept G Fitment...

I installed the Medallion today (my first car mod) and it's sitting extremely close to my bumper. By extremely close, I mean literally touching it...

I've read that it should be at minimum be gapped to a finger's girth.

One thing that i've noticed is that the rubber mounts (grommets?) aren't quite flush and aligned properly.

My buddy and I took the whole exhaust back down and re-installed. Same issues. I started the car up for a second to make sure the exhaust was bolted on tight; It sounds b-eautiful!

What can it be?

i saw a thread the other day bout this one guy who installed a tsudo, greddy, or hks exhaust(cant really remember) but, his was touching the bumper also. it completely melted the bumper cuz the tip gets really how when you drive it. so i'd say remove it before it messes up ur bumper. the thread had someone recomending to put a socket or soemthing in between the grommets or w.e. i cant exactly remember what it was, but when i find it, ill let you know.

did you buy it new or used? it could be a slightly bent hanger because mine had no fitment issues at all.

I bought it barely used. Now that I'm looking at it, it looks like the front mount was installed incorrectly by the previous owner. I'm not 100% sure yet. For now, I stuck a jenga block in the mount to drop it down a bit. Too bad I singed my bumper trying to drive to home depot to find something to use as a wedge

yeah i would just bend one of the mounting brackets or something down otherwise you for sure will burn your bumper.

my exhaust sits really close to my bumper to and looking at this pic looks like it might have singed mine just a tad but ive never noticed it in person while looking and this a greddy ti-c exhaust bought brandnew

That's the clearance I have now.

Any other tricks to get a tad more clearance outside of bending the brackets?

i dont know if it is the picture angle but it looks like that hanger is bent because your rubber exhaust hanger sits crocked, while mine is pretty much straight.

this is how my exhaust sits,

Yup. it's def crocked. Though it looks like you can install the rubber mount 3 diff ways (by rotating). When I got my used exhaust it was already attached to the exhaust so I assumed it was put on correctly since the previous owner just took it off his car... Anyway to tell which way is right?

you know what it is wrong, the one circled in red, that part of the rubber hanger should be at the top and the smaller two hook onto the exhaust. That might help it fit better.

When the exhaust hanger is stretched, the hole between the 2 used holes becomes big enough to shove something in, to space it out. Works well.
