Default Tanabe Concept G Installed......its freakin loud!

Well just got my tanabe concept G installed thurs, (thanks nd4spd_4_a_tc...he's the best!)and since then, i've been driving around on the highway and street and realized......this axle back is pretty loud. On the freeway i get the dreaded drone....and I get waaaaay to much attention, and when cops roll by...i just let go of the gas so they wont get curious.

On the street, idle to 2000 rpm, its not bad, but once i gas it to just get the car rolling, its roars pretty loud! I also have Injen intake...dont know if that makes a diffrence. All in all i love it, but im afraid its too loud even though tanabe states the lower than 98db rating (which i highly doubt it is..) Shoulda went with the medallion touring maybe? I love the start up roar, but when im driving it drones too much for me....

What do you guys think...will post some sound clips later this week...

depending on your definition of loud, i personally think its not to loud.

and i dont think its the noise thats attracting the attention, its probably the shiny fart cannon.

well, seeing how its only an axleback, it makes a decent amount of noise.....i've had cops right behind me, and I have a turbo, and never had too much attention....for that exhaust, don't get on the throttle unless you want some noise, and learn to short shift like crazy, haha....with that, you wont get too much attention.....

yeah the touring medallion touring is quieter, but also what other mods do you have like a header? Free flow cat? that could also affect the sound

sorry to get off topic, is there an axle back made for the tC that gives power but not a ridiculously loud noise?? besides the TRD?

Your very welcome. After Hours Autosports is here to help when ever you need it!

I liked the sound of the exhaust. It didn't seem to loud but I didn't hear you get on it.

Get those springs soon.

thats not loud IMO... especially since the clip was taken in what seems like an indoor area..... but here in NYC, just about any exhaust mod warrants a ticket.
The tC stock is noisy at highway cruising and it's tough to keep the motor below 2500 RPM. So I guess it's either learn to live w/ it, or sell it and stick w/ stock.

Yeah thats what i realized, the transmission actually likes to stay in the lower RPMs, but it puts a higher load on the engine, which makes the exhaust louder. (yes i have a auto) When i keep it in a lower grear and let the engine rev higher (3K), the sounds actually isnt as loud as when its pullin the car at 2.5K in the higher gear. Cruising above 65 mph the drone sometimes gets unbearable. It just depends sometimes. Depends on where im driving, the incline of the road, people in the car, i get mixed loudness.

Update......
So I've had my exahust over a week and it seems to be not as loud. I think the break in period makes it less loud...or im just going deaf. Tanabe concept g is higly recommended if you want a deep tone.
Today I pulled up to a integ and his exhaust didnt even sound close to my exhaust. His sounded all raspy and high pitched, mine was deep and low and he looked at me in awe when i pulled away (at least thats what my friend said)....haha i love it!

Nice sounding exhaust. Glad you're getting used to it. Yeah not loud at all.
