just wrap your brakes in rubber and call them your wheels.

You'll net 159~ whp easy. BTW, you'll need to take off all body kits.

dude I hope you edit your Post before getting flamed.

buying better tires will help put the power to the ground, never will tires gain any HP!

I would say that their are no such things as stupid questions, but in this case it doesn't apply.

If they're lighter than the ones they replaced, a Dynojet dyno will say you make more power...

It'll lost about 20-22hp to the wheels, giving you 138-140 whp. I know this sucks. That's why they're coming out with the TRD supercharger which gives you 200hp at the crank. So you're probably looking at 170whp. That's not including any other performance modifications like headers intake and exhaust system. you can add an extra 15-20 whp to that. Don't think you're going to gain a lot of power by that. You need to go turbo your tC for a signficant gain. This is exactly why i don't intend on modding this car with for performance, just looks. You want power get an EVO MR, 350 Z, G35 and do your mods there.

To make the guy feel even worse, I'd like to say that the "actual" horsepower (after taking into account drivetrain loss, aerodynamic drag, etc), is about 130.

But my first car had 58hp at the crank, so I'm in nirvana.

umm...138-140 is taking drivetrain loss into account. Stock TC's dyno at 138-140 hp, not 130. Pick up the latest Super Street I believe. They dyno a stock TC and then add header, axle back, and intake. And dynoed the car after each mod individually. and then all together.

If you want to reach the 160hp (which is rated at the crank, not the wheels) then you will need to add a Header, Axle Back exhaust (cat-back if you prefer) and an Intake. These in combination will put you close to 160whp.

I dynoed my car hit 142hp/153tq

That means figuring in about 15% drivetrain loss which is kind of an average... The numbers for Stock tC that are taken care of and broken in right are a tad higher than the rated HP/TQ more like 170ish if you wanna take averages of 15% loss... Just an FYI and oh yeah were can I get these magic tires you speak of... Do they have jet engines in them that help them spin harder than normal .... hahahah

www.howstuffworks.com

The engine makes 160 HP, but this is trapped to a flywheel dyno. Friction and heat causes you to lose power when transferring it to the wheels. Therefore, the "wheel hp" measurement is more accurate, since it directly relates to how fast you accelerate.

So removing the cats and OEM filter nets about 25 hp? Two Federal offenses and a three State offenses for California residents and you're golden. Cool.

You basically heard wrong about cars losing hp. Cars over time build carbon in the combustion chamber which in turn gives you a higher compression as long as your valves are sealing properly and your pistons are as well. Higher compression = higher output.

to flame or not to flame? hahahah

Most cars are advertised with hp on the crank and have less hp on the wheels.
More Hp= More Appealing to People that don't know about cars.
