tC Header rasp..

I know putting an aftermarket header causes a lot of rasp on the tC, but is this just the header itself or because we're removing a cat?
I was wondering if i put a 2nd cat on if this would eliminate some of the rasp caused by the header.

BlckdOutTC 05-03-2010 02:12 AM

it will remove some, yes, along with 2 resonators if you have an aftermarket/custom midpipe

i always think that the aftermarket header give better performance is because they don't have a cat converter, it give better air flow. but do HP lose once you install the second cat converter?

it's an expensive to eliminate the rasp. Weld 2 resonators will cost you about $400

KyleL 05-03-2010 02:45 AM

If you remove one cat and add another; wouldn't that be just as restrictive? unless you're talking about getting a high flow cat. What is your goal?

BlckdOutTC 05-03-2010 03:26 AM

woah welding resonators costing 400 bucks? i dont know where you go but to just weld a resonator is about 40 bucks TOPS. I got custom 2.5" piping from s pipe back with 1 vibrant resonator and 1 aero25 to my hks carbon ti i bought all for 225$

resonators 40-50 each
piping 120

woah... only my hks ti was 280... put resonator 70 plus the piping 200 with installation thats like 600

SR0529 05-03-2010 11:15 AM

Well, I know that mofo charged me so expensive that's why I only weld one resonator.

14" resonator plus weld labor = $200

Other place might be cheaper, but not near where I live. so I have no choice.

GQQSE13 05-03-2010 11:44 AM

resonator for min installed was only 65$ and that was an 18" resonator

14" resonator still a lot better than the stock resonator. I wish other places around where I live that charge $40 for install, so I will weld one more.

2.5" s pipe $50 + weld resonator on stock midpipe $200 + greddy sp2 axle back $300= $550.

BlckdOutTC 05-03-2010 04:14 PM

well i didnt include the price of the hks carbon ti muffler cause i bought that on my own

muffler 300
piping 120
resonators 80

total exhaust - 500

You know... technically I could give you a warning for this. It actually says in the rules to not post just to tell someone to search. If you're not going to HELP them search (offering search terms, a link to a thread YOU found while searching, etc)... just don't bother posting.

No need to clutter the thread with unhelpful crap.

BlckdOutTC 05-03-2010 04:41 PM

honestly, ive seen easily over 3000 posts of kids saying search lol

My setup is only $50 dollar more so that is not a big different. lol

For those who said "search" is because they know that there are many threads in this forum already. no need to repeat. people should search before they post.

resonator: 20-30 each!
custom s-pipe back piping: 80!

iwin! lol

back on topic:
you should get a vibrant race-ready cat or vibrant resonator and/or a cc insert...

20-30 dollar resonators?! what kind of resonators are you buying? thats like crack prices if they are really good ones.

LMAO no tha's not what i meant... here at the muffler shop i go to, the guy charges about 20-30 to weld on a resonator, and if he's in a good mood, he'll usually drop the price by 5-10 bucks!!

Irish_tc_518 05-04-2010 03:47 AM

You could weld it yourself, thats what I did. You could rent a MIG machine, and teach yourself the basic skills in a weekend with one of those DIY books.
After you pay someone 40 bucks each for 2 reso's its worth it. Then you have the skills for any future projects. Just my 2 cents...

well yeah i included the price of my 2 resonators obviously. the welding price is included in the custom 2.5" catback piping that he bent up for me for 120....

so im saying i bought the muffler, bought 2 resonators, and paid for the new piping with everything on it

matrix_808 05-04-2010 09:45 PM

Ya the goal was to get rid of some of the rasp cause by the header and I was thinking of either adding another high flow cat, or changing to a longer resonator. which would be better, or do both?
