tC Horsepower Potential

tC Horsepower Potential
Not sure if this has been ask before. Wondering what this engine could achieve horsepower wise without turbo or supercharger. And just for the sake of argument lets take the money out of the equation.
And what would you do to get this horsepower? Please be serious in your answers no BS please.

If you spend about same cost as your car without Turbo/S/C may be you will reach 300hp. Assuming you got good guys to work your cars.

You should try nitrous, when set up correctly it is very safe and effective.

well some consider nitrous as another form of forced induction, if money was out of the equation, throw in High comp pistons, shave and balance the crankshaft, light weight rods, and light weight pulleys, then for the head, aggressive cams, valves springs retainers, port and polish, custom individual throttle bodies, injectors, headers exhaust, and most definitely a standalone with a very good tune and a raised redline!
wow that was a mouth full!
im not gonna break down the total cost, but your looking at close to 15k not including labor and all other costs involved!
or you could spend 6k on a turbo kit, piggy back, and still have more HP, lol

you should be able to at least clear the 240 whp range.
An h22 built will put down about that much power. I don't see why the tC couldn't. It'd be expensive...Really expensive.

Like I said, in order to get it to 240, you would have to go against everything the 2AZ was made to do, rev fast, rev high, high compression, aggressive cams (since we don't have the luxury of having different cam profiles like Vtec) so now your looking at something that might not even be streetable due to crappy idling and such..
I would love to see this done one day, but it sure as hell wont be me! lol

idk. The compression ratio on the H22 is what really sets it apart. It's at almost 12:1.
I know the 2AZ-FE engine is a low compression which is why people are slapping turbos on them.
The whole point was that there is NO limit to the money spent.
Personally I think it's possible.
stroke it to 2.7 L, Cams, I/H/E, much higher compression ratio. i think that should hit in the 240 range. 200-220 for sure.

Your right, were not saying its not possible, but I have yet to meet someone with "no limit" on money that has an interest in Scions, lol

N/A serious power attempts are the biggest waste of time and money for any tC owner. End of discussion. The rods handle about 350 whp and they tend to go first.
It doesn't matter how you get there, that is your limit until you want to drop a couple G's building a block.

The H series engines arent that high of a compression. The JDM H22A is at about 11:1, while the USDM H22A1 is at about 10:1 Comp. Most of the Honda guys throw in around 12-14:1 comp pistons for their NA builds.
