Yep busted synchros

I had a VW split window bus that I bought with a bungee cord screwed to the floor that was used to hold it in 4th gear I put a ton of miles on it that way and sold it that way. Got real good at the one handed thumb hold finger sweep to the bungee lock & load move

I don't think we have the camry engine, the camry engine has different gearing.

scions have horrible synchros no matter how many miles you have, people with 20k miles have had synchro problems like that. if you have a warranty id try and go to toyota asap

try reinstalling and torqueing it again. newer civics had this with 3rd gear.

yeah I meant the tranny is different. woops

and OP this is a common problem with TC's and XB2's so they shouldn't say anything considering its covered by the warranty, if it were the clutch you wanted replaced that's a different story.

the civic story was just a recall all in itself.

Junkyard prayers FTW. Try and pick up a tranny there. You can also purchase a set of stronger synchros and have a shop put them in...if you dont think you can do them.

Both options are cheaper than a new tranny.

and where can you get this "set" of stronger synchros? noone sells a stronger synchro kit anywhere. the only person I know who has a customized tranny set up on the streets is TCpete, all his gearing is completely different from various other toyota tranny's
