Default TC1 MAF code after installing Intke pipe

I installed an intake that others were using on this site on a TC1. The MAF was properly set into place/ plugged in. I'm assuming the seal between the piping and the sensor is letting air escape? I seems to run fine, but gets mixed readings at idle making it a bit rough.

I used the screws from the stock airbox to install the MAF. It came with (2) allen key style bolts, but they seemed crappy quality. I know all of this is simple I would just like to see if anyone else encountered the same issue and what your solution was.

Which intake are you using? Did you oil the filter? If you did oil the filter try cleaning the maf sensor, you can buy the cleaner at most auto parts stores.

Disconnect NEG battery terminal, wait 3-5 minutes; reconnect. Idle 5 minutes; go for a drive but don't put pedal down like no tomorrow.

This has been answered many times before. Ever use google.com "SCION TC INTAKE INSTALL" ??

I have cleared the codes with my scan tool. Are you suggesting to let it idle for 5 minutes to "re-learn" the idle?

Yes he is, the computer needs to account for the extra air. The ecu needs to relearn so it can make adjustments. Try that as well as double check all couplers and fittings and make sure everything is tight.

It isnt dealing with extra air that is causing rough idle. The cai does almost nothing on a tc to begin with, but even so, the tiny change is dealt with via the maf (the car deals with constantly changing airflow and density all the time).

When you completely reset, the car will need to relearn some parameters, regardless of whether or not you changed anything.

Just drive it around and it will come back to normal unless it is setting a code

This is all assuming the rough idle came from a reset.

Does the battery cable need to be disconnected when going from CAI to short ram?

Or is it just a matter of eliminating the second piece of pipe and putting the filter on the first piece?
