Depends on the vehicle... I have an xD and it makes a big difference on them. Our exhaust drops from 2.25" to 1.5" after the resonator. If you do an axle back, you leave the whole center of your exhaust reeduced to 1.5" and then go bak up to 2.25" from where the new axle back attaches. If you do a cat back, you end up with a full 2.25" exhaust from the headers out the tailpipe.

That's the inside diameter of the pipe used in the exhaust. So going from 2.25" to 1.5" back to 2.25" doesn't make alot of sense as the 1.5" is more restrictive, therefore less performance. I'm not familiar enough with the Tc to know if the entire exhaust is 2.25". I do know most of the axle backs they sell for the Tc are 2.25", and if the balance of the Tc system is already 2.25" an axle back would be just fine. I put the TRD system on my xD and it sounds great!

Good Luck!

thats the piping size. I would also say go with an axle back. Now if you were turboed or supercharged the go with a full exhaust.

we call it an s-pipe back on the TC, because there is a small bendy pipe between the exhaust mani (where there is a catalytic converter) and the rest of the exhaust.

An S-pipe back exhaust is great as long as you leave the stock header in place. If you upgrade that, you will have to deal with adding a cat and resonators which is a pain in the butt. At least if you don't want your toyota to sound like a Honda.

the difference isn't just sound. it's power. (which is minimal difference anyway)

You're better off hitting the gym and shedding a few lbs. That's how minimal the difference is for an exhaust with a stock setup.

I would personally go with TRD which is a axleback. I like the sound of it and its not that noticable on the car....
