Default Testing the water...A/T LSD? *UPDATED PG 2*

Ok, I'm wanting an LSD for my a/t and no one makes one. Quaife states this on their site:

"I don't see an application listed for my vehicle, what can I do?
Whether you are looking for an ATB Differential, close ratio gearkit, quick steering rack, or all of the above, we specialize in making limited productions on a custom basis. With many differential production runs of only 30 units, and gearkit productions of as few as 10 kits, Autotech can provide small companies and race teams with custom made driveline products built to their own, unique requirements. If you are an individual looking for one part, the first thing to do is to contact Autotech ! You may not be the only one looking. Many new applications have begun with a single phone call. After that, it would be a good idea to seek out fellow enthusiast owners that share an interest in your same vehicle. You may be able to gather enough people together to get a small production started.
Give us a call, you got nothing to lose . . . and performance to gain!"

So I emailed them about 30 mins ago, probably won't get a reply back til like Tuesday b/c of the holiday, but this is was I sent them :

"Hi,

I'm in need of some info. I have a 2007 Scion tC that I'm going to start building and dropping money into. My problem is it is a automatic. My plans include a transmission that holds 800hp and 1000ft/lb torque, however your LSD that you make is only available for the manual transmission in the Scion tC and available only through TRD. Are there any plans on TRD releasing one for the automatic tC's? If not how much would it cost to have you create a custom one? And if I could get a group buy going on them, like say 5-10 people, would you guys be able to/willing to create it? I'm seeking info on this now b/c I can go ahead and have it put in the transmission now even without the rest of the mods done because the shop I'm going to be using for my transmission will actually just be doing the work on my stock one to convert it so it will still be exactly the same and the LSD will work with it, if you guys can create one. I've been told by numerous people on forum boards that the automatic was never created because there was not enough interest for one from the automatic side of the "house" when the Scion tC was first released back in the summer of 2004, I'm unsure how accurate that is though. Because of that lack of interest, that's why I'm saying I will start a group buy if your company is welling to create one, as I know people that are now modifying the automatics and wheel spin is one of their issues, not to mention valve body control and internals, but we have other companies to help us out on that so they are almost none-issue problems. Can you please help me out with this issue? Thank you guys! "

Now for the testing the waters part. If any a/t guys are interested, even just vaguely please add your name to the list of interested people. I ask this b/c I'm mainly wanting them to see that there is some potential interest in their product for us A/T guys. If they do their batch of 30ish and we have our group buy then they can sell the rest to their dealers or whatever. Please keep in mind that even their normal LSDs for like the MR2s go for 1350 so its not going to be too cheap but we can work this over months if people are serious about obtaining one. So, with that said, lets get this started! I will start off the list, just put your SN, and whether your highly interested (will get one if they will make it for us), Moderately interested (will possibly get one depending on the price and when they need the money), or slightly interested (may get one in the future)

FOR SPONSORS/SELLERS:
If you would like to help out and add these to your product list feel free to add your names as well. You can apply to become a Quaife dealer. How do I become a Quaife dealer?
Becoming a dealer is very simple. Just give us a call or drop us an e-mail, and we will send out a dealer application to you. In most cases, we will get back to you within 24hrs to let you know is your application has been accepted.

1. Amdforever- highly interested
2. Sleepermod- moderately interested
3. J- - interested

IIRC someone already tried this last year and couldn't get enough people interested. But Quaife isn't the party you need to bring this up with since TRD holds the exclusive license for the M/T LSD, and they probably have an exclusive on a potential A/T version as well.

What!?!?! That's BS, TRD has their d@mn nose in everything. I'll wait and see what they say. Thanks for that info though. What's IIRC stand for?

On a related issue, I read through the U241E manual and indeed the auto housing unit does have a differential case that looks suspiciously like a regular LSD, the IS200 (manual) has a Torsen unit so why not the auto TC/Camry/Solara?????

Besides, most of the production cars nowadays come in auto-paddle shift-shifttronic modes anyways Its time the aftermarket do somrthing for the auto trannys

Hmm that would be interesting to find out that we already have somewhat of an LSD built in Is the u241E the model of our transmission? I haven't been able to locate our model number that's why I ask. I'm not a fan of paddle/shift tronic modes I like actually moving the shifter down to the next slot lol.

Yep, I'm quite sure the autobox has a differential case. Check it out the next time your car is on the hoist, you turn one wheel and the other turns opposite direction. The tc is U241E designate. Confirmed.

How do I know? I bought a used transmission 6 months ago from a local yard and kept it in my store. I was hoping to get it modified by the good boys down at IPT, basically higher stall torque billet converter@2800rpm (stock stall is @2200rpm), valve body upgrade and Raybestos blue clutch packs replacement for internals In short, tough enough to hold 450whp for a daily driver. I'm now doing up my engine rebuilt 1st

The LSD (if available) would definite complete the puzzle! I hope this thread gets somewhere

I hope it gets some where too, so this differential, sry, not too car savvy, thats like an LSD? I thought the LSD would make both wheels go in the same direction. Why would ours turn in opposite directions? Kinda reminds me of the cars that are RWD, if you turn one it turns the other the opposite direction but then the drive shaft turns it only turns one wheel. I'll look up info on IPT, I was talking to some people at Level Ten, they got a nice setup they were going to hook me up with.

Hey! You did a check on me Yes, I was looking at PCS's digital display for datalogging but found it overkill but nice... the tranny programmer was very interesting and I even printed the install manual for it. I read it through and through and then I gave up! it is certainly not for a DIYer who doesn't know the tranny well and lacks the wiring schematics Quite complicated to set and program.

I suggest you try and locate/read through other forums' in regards to Level 10 cos' there has been some serious complaints from customers. Doing up your tranny is serious coin and if it f***s up, you may have issues getting L10 to warranty/redo their work Just a thought after having read some customers' comments and rantings.

I went with IPT as I could not till now dig up any dirt about them and they were the ones who did the valve body for ERIC-TC some time last year when I was talking to him. He has since sold his tC and bought a Mazda SP and has left scionlife.....

Check out their website and the various products/services they have for the Toyota/Lexus tranny family. I believe they would be able to deliver the goods when entrusted and asked upon

Lol nah I was searching for u241E for some info on our transmission and that thread popped up b/c you mentioned it in there.

So until now there was no dirt on IPT? What dirt did you just find then? I got awhile before I start so I have time to research the companies I use, should look into those lvl 10 ones you said you found. I took a look at IPTs website and in all honesty, I don't know where but I've seen the site before or one that was setup just like it. I'll give them a chat one day when I get more info on what I'm looking for. Warranties are a big thing b/c like you said, that is a lot of money lol.

cool, do you know how many miles he's put on it, how much he abuses it, power its holding, their warranty they gave him? Got more questions when they come to mind but those are some important ones. Kinda tells you how good a company is if you know of first/second hand knowledge of something someone else is using.

he's had it on for more then 12k miles, no issures. the power he's putting to it is in my sig, i forget how much psi he's running, probably 16psi (small turbo is maxed out). as for abuse, i dont think he drive its like he stole it everytime he's on the road. but it has been pushed many times. as far as how much power it can hold, cant really say until it breaks lol.
