Okay so my car seems to work normally, but sometimes I like to slam the gas in first gear.

When the pedal is as far as it goes, my whole car just f's up.

The check engine light turns on and then a huge throttle delay problems comes up.
Also, it seems to be hella slow after that, whenever I hit the gas all the way, it takes a couple of seconds to read and then... it slowly accelerates. Like seriously, REALLY SLOW.

The only way I deal with this is pulling over, restarting the car, that fixes the throttle delay and acceleration problems, but the check engine light turns off after a while.


Anybody have any idea what this is or have the same problem?

 

First things first... what mods do you have? Especially engine mods...

 

yep what mods including brands on intake,also 5spd or auto,miles on car,header or none,exhust changes.....mine did that when I put on intake till it relearned the new flow.

 

Year of car, miles, and what mods? Have you had this since it was new or used?

 

No mods at all, year is 05, and miles is about 35,000. 5speed.

I know so little miles haha.

From what I know, everything was still stock.

The thing is, at first it felt like it was giving off a little throttle problems, so my bro decided to bend the pedal forward.

So you can push the pedal back further than normal, would this even matter?

well without more specific details or looking at the vehicle itself... its hard to say if your delay is meerly VVT-i related...but if you are getting a CEL when this happens... that would lead me to believe there may be a deeper issue. Bending the accelerator pedel back is never a good idea though.

 

I would start by going to a salvage yard and getting a new electronic throttle pedal assy also don't let your brother touch your car again.

The car will behave this way if the MAF is damaged or not plugged in/making contact. Check this first.

 

Anyone know where these are to check?

In an 05 scion tc.

Don't really have the time to find a new accelerate pedal, maybe this could be loose or something.

 

You would also have a CEL for this.

not necessarily. If the MAF sensor was dirty but still giving "within spec" voltage to the computer, it could causes issues without a CEL.

 

yeah try cleanin the maf, my friend had similar problems with his gc8 2.5rs

 

But he didn't say that he said if it was not plugged in making contact which would cause a CEL.

 

Pretty sure it's not the MAF, cleaning it, still does the same thing.
