ticking sound with cai
#21
yea that doo-hickey you circled is where the sounds comes from. In fact you can even the ticking by putting your hand on it while the car is running. I'll just deal with it...once I get around to installing my exhaust and header, i'm sure I will be more annoyed by other noises.

that valve is the EVAP system purge valve. It lets fuel vapors into your intake via a vacuum line. The ticking noise is a valve inside opening and closing. It always ticks, but for some reason when installing a cai it gets louder. I noticed it on mine too.

I heard that ticking right off after installing the CAI. I put an extra rubber washer in between the intake and the valve cluster and that helped a little but its still present. It never bothered me that much though. I guess thats just me.

that ticking is on every car... starts doing it's job once the car is warmed up..... it's used to control something about warm curb idle.... controled by ecu.. something.. something.. emissions systems.. something something..
vacuum switching valve.. it's just doing it's job.

There are resonators on the the stock intake that silences this valve. When you install the CAI, you lose the resonator and thus, you here this ticking. It will not go away. It is not any kind of vibration from any brackets, or loose fittings. Just try to deal with it.
