Default TRD + ? = Cat back

yooo.....had my tc for a couple months now with just a trd exhaust, getting a little itchy for some more power. Was wondering how i could get more power through a cat back or full exhaust while keeping my trd axle back exhuast. What parts do i need specifically to make it a complete exhaust system and what companies can make those parts. Cuz i know that zpi and has full cat back exhausts but do they sell single parts of the exhuast to fit the trd exhaust? and i live in cali so i still want my shiznit to be street legal.

ZPI will sell a mid pipe for you. It'll replace your mid pipe and basically turn the TRD axleback into a catback. Although, the TRD's dimensions are smaller than the midpipe that ZPI will make but it'll help by a lot. Creative Compacts, Megan, and ZPI and Draxas make or will make (CC and ZPI and Megan have theirs out already) a s pipe for the tC and that will give you your headerback exhaust.

so will the zpi mid pipe fit with the trd axle back.= and does eliminate a cat at all. does this make it illegal in anyway in regards to CARB or anything? would an zpi s pipe and mid pipe + trd axle back work?

if u wanna keep the trd axel back, i recommend going to a custom muffler shop and have them make you a custom pipe with a hi flow cat (since u wanna stay legal)

and as far as i know, the draxas and cc spipe work with the stock manifold. draxas will be released very soon

To be honest, TC's piping isnt that bad. It is pretty straight and they mandrell bent it. I dont think you ll gain that much HP only by changing mid pipe. I would just get a header. Save your money.

aight, so does anyone know where you can get a mid pipe that will work with the trd axle back? I'd prefer not to work with some random shop for a custom mid pipe, unless anyone knows of a good shop in the LA area. I've been lookin at retail sites but cant find any place that can sell a respected company's mid pipe just by itself.

Despite what I know, my tC is the first car I will have tuned, so sorry for what may seem like a question with an obvious answer.

Would going with the 2.25" piping instead of the 2.5" help retain any of the low-end power you lose with the gain on the high end? I know it wouldn't gain as much high-end, but low-end is precious to me. Plus, I love my TRD. And I guess I should ask if it would even be worth it? A.K.A. Can anyone make any gains estimates? I could guess, but I would more than likely be incorrect. I'm really just going for some low-mid range power. Thanks!

why ATO.. why not Beta Theta Pi bro? Just kidding.

I really think you dont need 2.5 unless you go turbo or SC. I took my car to a local muffler shop and they guy said.. why do you want to change it? It is a nice setup already. He only recommend changing the muffler thats about it.

If you insist then I suggest getting the draxas system like breakaway and sell your trd exhaust.

im still interested in getting a 2.5 inch mid pipe, i know it probably wont do a whole lot but if im gonna get an s pipe with a header then might as well get a new mid pipe too, which still leaves the question where in da crap is anyone selling just the mid pipe like people sell just the s pipe?

The tC piping is actually not bad. I'm going to just grab a S-pipe and probably call it a day.

i agree schwettynuts, the tCs stock pipe is nice. and i will be going FI, so 2.5" was a must for me, i was gonna go with 3" pipe, but i decided against it because i wont be running much boost

and whtball, if you gonna to a header, spipe, mid pipe, and keep your trd exhaust... i HIGHLY suggest you sell ur trd exhaust, and buy the Draxas ( www.draxas.com ) header back exhaust (includes spipe, high flow car, muffler, stainless steel 2.5" pipe, lifetime warranty, etc). the draxas system sounds like the TRD exhaust (trust me, i had the trd exhaust, then got the draxas exhaust), the only differance is the draxas is slightly louder and deeper, and REALLY deep at 2.5K rpms, there is a thread on here that i started with pics and a video of the draxas exhaust.

But if you still insit on keeping your trd axel back, and want a mid pipe, i STILL recommend u find a good muffler shop and have them make you a custom 2.25" pipe with a EPA approved hi flow cat

and Glazebrook, if you do not plan on going FI (forced induction, ie: turbo or supercharger), i would stay with a 2.25" pipe, just get rid of the cat completely, or replace it with a hi-flow cat, and invest in a nice axel back exhaust

hope i helped.. if you still need answers... ill reply again =]

Of course, someone might try a 60 mm exhaust. That's the size on most axlebacks offered. It's about 2.36." I don't know if a muffler shop would do that for you though.

Hmm, Breakaway, it seems like you like Draxas. So? Do you like Draxas? Do you have anything good to say about their stuff? Anything at all? ;)

I'm kidding of course.

if you wanna keep your TRD exhaust then why dont you just get the mid-pipe and s-pipe customly built???? a straight mid pipe is like 70 dollars and s-pipe is 60 dollars... since you got no aftermarket header, get the catback custom built....

go to a personal business, not a company because companies refuse to remove the cat converter. unless you like to keep the cat converter just get the rest of the pipes done.... itll be a tight spot through your exhaust flow unless you get a HI-FLOW cat converter, thats over 160 dollars. resonators are just 60 or more..

ooookkkk....man too many options, lets say i were to get a header, what would be the best exhaust sytem to get especially to keep down the rasp and still have a nice deep sound? i heard zpi cat back has good sound even with a header, draxas looks good but would you have to get a resonator to keep down the rasp?

Yeap, the ZPI exhaust has relatively the best sound from what I have heard online thus far.

However, I would go custom. Get a 2.5" or a 60mm if you plan on keeping the TRD and get a high flo cat and two resonators. That oughtta keep the rasp close to zero. And having a cat keeps the air we breathe clean too!

Everyone loves a cleanly done car, let's also have a clean atmosphere!

I'm sure you all hate me now.
