Default TRD air filter vs K&N air filter

How is everyone doing? I have a K&N performance air filter (which needs to cleaned), and have been thinking about purchasing a TRD performance filter to replace it.

Are there and differences between the two or are they pretty much the same thing?

Thanks everyone.

The TRD filter is not made by K&N it is made by aFe and I believe them to be a superior filter in design and filtration, look them up http://www.afefilters.com

Yes, I know i have an xB but my wife has a tC with the TRD filter and so does the box

I've been thinking about that too. But I need to save some cash for new wheels.

Hey bro remember regardless of what you do/get, a drop in filter is a drop in filter. Dont expect to much. You will actually lose hp, but maybe at most feel a little more response. When it comes to drop in filters its more about pure filtration, and K&N and TRD are no different. There pretty much the same thing. Compare one of them to a fram or crappy paper filter youll see a diff in filtration. Plus the upside on either one is its rewashable/reusable. If I were you id buy the K&N filter, punch out that white filter glued into the top of the airbox, remove that damn intake resonator and put a bottle cap in it. Clamp that **** tight and your good to go.

A quick way to check an air filter is to put it up against a light source. The amount of light that comes through is reletive to the amount of air passing through the filter.

sorry, but you are giving some false information. I gained 4whp and 2wtq from switching the the stock paper filter and hydrocarbon filter for a trd high flow filter when I had my s/c tc. Thats not too bad of a gain for $50.

haha, I dont see whats so funny, "bud"? I saw the thread where they did the K&N drop in filter dyno, but the guy didn't removed the HC filter, which is restrictive as f**k and less restriction=more power.BTW 4whp is a big gain for $50 and a 5 second install. What did you gain with your K&N drop in filter, custom intake pipe and HKS axleback?

I did assume Freedomone's car was supercharged due to this thread being posted on forced induction.
