TRD DROP IN QUESTION
Hello, I installed my TRD drop in filter on my 2006 TC, and was suprised to find that it was very difficult to get the air box back together when I was done. Now, Im not a complete idiot and I put it in right way front and aligned it well, and afterall I did get it back together with some effort.
Has anyone else noticed this problem/issue?
Is the filter just a little bigger than the paper filter?
Let me know gang, thanks.

Yeah, I drove around with it in for a few hours and checked it again to see if it would fit better, and it seemed to. Its just a pain in the **** to get the plastic hinges in the back to align correctly, without putting so much pressure as to break the whole plastic air box.
My feelings on the part, thus far, are this.
It definately delivers a smoother air flow, although power/sound are identical. Im hoping for some fuel economy, as this whole gas deal is beginning to ____ me off some. I would recommend it to a friend, but especially a friend who financed through toyota, because I got it for like 12 bucks after the $50 dollar gift card.
Cheers

So far (1 week) I am happy with the TRD. I dont think that it does much in the way of performance, but, it seems to smooth out the airflow some. Could just be in my head though. If you think about it, it will pay for itself in a few years in terms of air filters.
Cant say much comparing the K&N with the TRD. Im sure that they are both similar units, and like I said in my last post. If you financed through toyota they send you a $50 gift card and you can pick up the TRD for just a few bucks then.
I really think that someone other than Weapon R should make a short ram kit that is tuned not to alter air fuel at high rev. That would be a huge seller, if you ask me. I was all for a CAI or SRI setup, I just have not been able to plunk down the money, and there is always the fear of warranty/damage issues. Not to mention the fact that its tough to get em in and out for cleaning/install. I also dont want to buy stuff that Im not likely to use, which is the case with much of what is out there right now.
I hear that the injen cone filter does not fit well when its in the SRI setup.
I know that the TRD is way over priced, and aside from those, there just is not much out there.
I guess that time will tell, but until then, a cotton/oil filter may be as good as it gets.
Cheers
