Hey guys/gals

in about 2 hors I'm about to drop 150 on a trd cai, my question is:
does the intake come with a bypass valve? Or do I have to by it seperatly?

TRD intake should come with a BPV.

it does its best to keep the rain out of the engine

and just out of curiousity, how much water needs to go into the engine for it to be hydrolock?

a few gallons....they said it pretty much has to be submerged in water.

 

A few gallons? How do you manage to squeeze a few gallons into a motor that's only 2.4L? Half of a liter is more than enough to hydrolock a motor. 1 cylinder = .6L, and a cylinder doesn't need to be completely filled for a rod to bend/snap.

lmfao!! what thats like impossible, are we talking about like wet roads, after rain, or a lil puddle of water.....

 

dont drive through puddles that can make water go above the level of your bumper...

 

also avoid lakes and rivers as well as oceans when possible...

just a little water is enough to hydrolock your engine. water doesnt like to be compressed

 

If you're that paranoid then just don't buy an intake. They don't really do anything anyway. Just makes your engine sound louder.

yea CAI is pointless if u want the sound go with a shortram i had a cai and converted it to shortram had it for 2 years till i boosted

 

seriously why is everyone scared of hydrolockign your car. You have to be a conplete idiot to accomplish this. If you so scared dont buy a CAI! the only real way to do this is drive through a puddle 2 ft deep. and if your doing that in a tc your prolly in a lake, river or steam. If you like driving through water may i suggest a lifted truck or jeep!
