Default Tuning a S-AFC II

I got my S-AFC hooked up the other day finally with the help of a proper wiring diagram. When i turned the car on and with through the setup, everything worked great except for the fact i have a CEL for the MAF-signal to high. At idle it is running soo rich it barely idles. Does anybody have any clue what i should do to keep this thing running normal with no CEL. Wiring was done properly and has been checked over many times. Doesnt make sense why i have a fault for my MAF when it is hooked up properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I just figured it out from research, I was trying to install a HKS super AFR which is pretty much the same thing as the apexi S-AFC.

anyway the problem is that NOW that you have a AFC hooked up IN between the MAF and the ECU the ecu has no way of monitoring the true A/F R's at idle so the the ecu plays it safe and runs it rich.

you need a REAL TUNE or at least the base tune for the tc.
the apexi comes with one from what i hear...the HKS does not...
(edit) actually the HKS has a "self learning mode" that "should" upload the base fuel maps("should" being the key word here...) don't know if the apexi has anything similar to this.

thats the basis of it the AFC is un tuned and the ecu is pretty much "guessing" the A/F ratios...

sorry bout all the edits...middle of the friggin night...

So what you are saying its gonna run pig rich at 12:1 at idle basically and thats as good as it will get. For some reason that doesnt make any sense to me, there has to be a way to change it to run leaner at idle. If it runs 12:1 at idle theres no telling what it will do at WOT, prolly drop below 10:1.

Well our ECU prevents AFC's from tuning idle and partial throttle. you would need a better EMS for that(Dezod BB or AEM piggyback).
I just think the AFC is intercepting OR scrambling the AFR's signal and the ecu is having trouble keeping stoich at idle.
maybe getting the AFC dyno tuned would help.

I decided against using the HKS since its a little older and not really meant for our car.why did you not get the Apexi neo? this is the only AFC i know capable of tuning under 4K "partial throttle"...

It runs perfectly fine under part throttle except at idle. Doesnt make sense, ill talk to some people that have delt more with the AFC and see what they can do for it.

Its been dynoed at 9psi, with 2.5" exhaust from turbo back. Dont have a scanner or anything for the papers but i can tell you it put down 284hp and 267ft./lbs. of torque at the wheels. Wasnt too bad for it being just bolted on with no tuning. Can easily break into the 300 mark if i can get this afc to do what its supposed to do.
