Turbo an automatic?
Idk if this has been answered already, the search function suck. But, sadly I have an automatic due to insurance...GRRRR! Being 17 sucks.
Anyways, I have bunches of money to spend, and I want to either turbo my auto, or go up to just a regular wrx (somehow a wrx is cheaper than a tc for insurance).
How effective would it be to turbo an auto for the tc? I know superchargers are like ticking time bombs...or at least from what I've heard. Any input?

Been answered a million times.
Insurance is based on location, car, and age along with safety features associated with the car. I don't see how the transmission would affect Insurance, but thats besides the point. A WRX will be cheaper for insurance because for a few reasons. It's also a much more stable platform for boost, plus you get a LOT more "modability" and the AWD.
well...... on a auto with a turbo you can only do about 250 hp before the tranny starts slipping. nothing you can do about it. you can do a tranny swap with a mt but thats like 3k by it self. the turbo say ptuning is like 5grand need a tranny cooler for that auto thats whatever it costs. sounds like you will need someone to do the install thats like 500 and about another 500 for tunning it. now if you had a mt tranny from the start you could be doing over 300 hp easy... good luck so you know as soon as you put a turbo on it your warrenty on the car is over. and everything that bad happens after is comming from your pocket. If you got the money #### it do it to it. i Look forward to seeing your car in the accident damage section......... what mods did you get for that tc from the dealer....

Boosting an auto is fine. around 250 without a valve body is the limit. or 300 with one. Read the thread in the fi section.
Just watch out for the trans in the WRX. Theyre real touchy.
