Here's the dyno on the Mazda3.
Anyone want to step up for the Scion?

All the intakes will be shipping in the next few days.

Fun:
Dyno run - 1 - stock completely stock, stocker than stock, the most stock you can possibly stock, the stockiest. Nate thinks his car is stock, so do I.

Dyno run - 2 - not so stock, a lot less stock, Nate and I are pretty pleased with the lack of stockiness aka 8HP, 8TQ approximate with better A/F ratio.

Dyno run - 3 - no time between not so stock run and the next not so stock run - heat soak showing a bit, number still not very stocky - 7HP, 6TQ

Dyno run - 4 - less than 1 minute between the two not so stocky's and this one - heat soak playing a larger role, but stockiness long since a memory - 5HP, 3TQ.

What did we gleam from this? Damn fine intake - all the guys at the dyno place as witnesses (all 5 of them), none of whom care one bit about this car or this intake, nor did they particular have time to run this, so they were pretty shocked at the changes - they expected far less than even some of you. They were pleased and so were we.

Fact:
A/F ratio was greatly affected by the addition of the intake.
One thing noted was that the lean condition was lengthier with the addition of the intake, clearly the ECU had not adjusted.

Look at this objectively and it will be quite clear that this intake does what it's supposed to - PROVIDE MORE AIR.

The engine is a pump, put more fuel and more air in it and spark it quicker and you get more power.

The intake created a longer than stock lean condition because the car was getting more air than the ECU was accustomed to seeing, thus, when the proper amount of fuel was finally dumped into the motor - per the A/F ratio dip below Stoich - you got an immediate increase in power.

This isn't rocket science. the ECU will adapt over time to send more fuel to the motor due to the increased air flow. While greater overall gains cannot be predicted, more USEABLE gains WILL be available. That means, over time, the power will appear sooner, probably feel more responsive, and potentially deliver worse gas economy.

Basically, the dyno proves one thing and one thing alone, this intake is really a pretty good design, gathering air from two locations and filtering it without too much degradation in flow.

If you don't have this intake because you were waiting on some sort of "proof" - you have it in spades.

As has been said before:
Sound, build quality, looks, and power <-- no other intake has it ALL for such a price.
