Unbolting your exhaust
I have seen some of the guys from scion evolution with there exhaust "unbolted" I was just wondering if anyone in here knows of any negative effects that this could have on your car. I actually searched and came up with a dyno chart that actually showed a power gain from doing this. My major question is are there any negative effects on the car ? I actually think it sounds kind of cool because its not a sound that you would expect from a 4 cylinder. The EVO guys have said they have gotten compliments on how there exhaust sounds. Thanks in advance for the replies
thanks for such a quick repsonse Joe@dezod. Sound, fuel efficiency, and cops are all things that i wouldnt mind too much. What i would mind would be a major issue/repair because im a broke college student and i can barely make the payments.
yes sir... that exactly what i was talking about muffler only... i wouldnt want to know waht it would be like to do it right after the header... hahahah im laughing just thinking about it
thanks joe ... I just saw your turbo video. good freaking job man. that thing is insane. im going with you over scionspeed and zpi. ill be waiting with the credit card whenever you are finally done with the kit. good luck finishing up
Its not loud.. quiter then most exhaust out there... I ran no exhaust for about 4 months.... Only affect I saw was it heats up the rear where the storage compartment is in the rear... makes it stick to the bottom
it will just make it louder... My friend unobolted his car before it shook the whole house when it was in the garage plus disturb some of the neighbors and he was only reving it at 3k rpms
i drove a week with my muffler unbolted to see how it sounds and feels
it was great
instant power. great sound for the 1st day. until the ECU got use to the change in air flow, it started to sound louder and obnoxious. or too loud to say i got pulled over the 4th day. cop thought i was going 80 when i was going 65. hahah
ull notice that our engines or exhaust gurggles when coming to a stop or when the RPMs drop down to idle

ive had my exhaust disconnect for who knows how long...pretty much since ive had my car. i just used the springs and shoved them in between the two flanges to space it out. works fine...better response, a little more pull, and better mileage actually. no problems from cops yet but i kinda granny drive a bit hahaha.
keith you are right.. in cali you probably get yelled at for fun by the cops but the cops in south florida dont worry too much about cars expet if you get caught street racing. thats a felony and you can say bye bye to your car because the state of florida seizes it. it would suck
Hmm let me think... CALI HAS THE SAME LAW! To a point. Its a misdeminer and car impounded for 30 plus days if u r found guilty they can keep it. Their is a reason I stopped going to the street races... Those were the good days when I didnt have to work! lol
