Default UnderDrive Crank Pulley. Yay or Nay?

I was told that installing a underdrive crank pulley (by OBX) is a terrible idea. That since its missing the rubber seal thing that the OEM one has, it will essentially vibrate the motor to death. What are your thoughts on this? If this is true is there a fix?

You're supercharged, you do not want an underdrive crank pulley as you will LOSE boost pressure!

but otherwise no, I had one for like 50k miles, no problems at all.

Interesting, was totally unaware!

My car is having a lightweight alternator and water pump pulley installed as we speak, was this a bad idea?

Nope, nothing wrong with those. just remember, your supercharger's RPM is directly related to the ratio of crank pulley's RPMS. If you put on a smaller crank pulley, you'll generate less boost pressure are all speeds for your supercharger. If there was space, you'd actually want a LARGER crank pulley so the supercharger would spool up faster, which is why you have a smaller supercharger pulley.

Does anyone make larger ones? Would a light weight version do any good if its the same size?

I've had one on my car for years, over 70k miles with no problems. I have the agency power pulley though and turbo but I love it.

The crank pulley is really just snake oil. Any difference you feel is only in your head. Nobody makes a larger one because you can't fit one.

Wouldnt lighter weight pulleys all around be helpful tho? (water pump, alt, crank)

theoretically yes, less rotational mass means less parasitic drive train loss, but seriously, you don't notice it. Save it for if and when you need to replace your serpentine belt next.

Honestly, I did notice a slightly quicker throttle response when I first installed mine but there is no DRAMATIC difference. Its not going to give you 50hp and knock a second off you 1/4 times but I did notice slightly faster acceleration.
