a lot of people on here are using unichips. t-netics kits came with them, but you can use them on any application as long as you have a tuner in your area to tune it

You don't need to have done anything to benefit from a retune.

All factory cars are tuned extremely conservatively. You can make hp by taking a stock car and tuning it.

how much would you gain with all OEM components but a retune on a unichip?

Who knows - that depends on the tuner and how aggressive he is with the tune. That also depends on what gas you're using.

it says at the bottom that you need a CAI and Cat-back exhaust system for it to work properly.

No - it says you need it to see the most gains.

so add the cat back and the CAI and then bring it to your tuner and get it tuned....

seems simple enough

wouldn't a cat back and an intake add around 14 hp already....

are they saying that you will get another 11-14 on top of that?

all the power you are getting from the "chip" is really coming from those 2 things. EVERYONE on here says chips are all CRAP.

You don't have to be attacking about this..

Call Unichip - I did a while back and inquired about this. I found it ridiculous that a CAI and exhaust is needed.. how would a chip tell what kind of intake or exhaust you have?

They said they would reword their website. Apparently they haven't done so.

their info is either backwards or wrong.

if you look at the CAI/CAT-B dyno in the title it says header and cat-b, nothing about CAI. it says 9.6 HP gains, with the max HP being about 181

if you look at the stock dyno, it gives 14 HP gains and the max HP is around 187.

so its basically saying you're better off using it on a stock car if you want the most HP...

ok well this might all be true but when u put a cold air intake in the stock ECU makes up for the little extra denser air and adds gas right so this uni chip would help refine that tuning and make it more precises for the gas used and amount of air.

is this a pretuned unichip from the company for NA applications?

Most unichips need to be tuned by a tuner since a lot of the parameters can be different then a base tune

If you are going to pay for tuning, it might not be worth it. I myself have gotten all the mods I want together first before taking it to a tuner (besides the fact that I already have a S/C)

The tuner I have for mine is going to cost about $600, but that will give me an idle tune, partial throttle tune, and WOT tune.
