Default Valve cover gasket - how to?

well... i have 110k miles and i have oil around the valve cover. so i will try to replace it tomorrow.

I will also have an oilchange so the oil will be drained ... do i need to clean up around before the new gasket goes in? I read somewhere that i need to sand it lightly where im gonna put the gasket. Do i need any sealant?
i didnt see any DIY about this so i might take some pics and make my own write up.

the valve cover gasket its simple to swap csaba... takes 5 min. and its all 1 piece.. you dont need any sealant or sanding...

1. loosen the screws for the coilpacks
2. unplug coil packs from connector or just unplug the coil packs from the spark plug cover. ( i usually take the connectors off the coil pack and then off the head to make life easier since the wires for the last coil pack are short and if u dont loosed then bracket on the tranny side its a small pita to take out.)
3. loosen all the nuts and bolts on the valve cover
4. take valve cover off
5. take off old gasket from valve cover
6. add new valve cover gasket and tap into the groves on the valve cover and spark plug holes
7. gently tighten down the valve cover bolts in a criss cross manner (as you would a wheel)
8. once all the bolts are screwed on make sure to go around and equally tighten all the remaining screws on the spark plug area and around the valve cover.

when u take the old one off you will have maybe some oil spill.. its best to do it when the car is cold so theres no oil already around the head.

you can also clean up the head and valve cover area with one of those blue oil shop napkin rolls or a paper towel to clean it up.

thats it..

LMK if u want me to do it man.. its simple and easy

only reason you would need sand paper to sand is if the old gasket doesn't come off cleanly

then loosen the black braket thats on the valve cover and you should be able to take off the plugs and wires all together as 1... the coil pack clips are super weak sometimes
