Default Wash Car, Intake Got Wet

Today, when i was just spraying down my car, i opened up the hood after i was done, and my injen intake got all wet. to be more specific, the secondary pipe got wet. i was planning to convert it to short ram and if i did, that's where the filter would've been. is this normal? i don't mind the pipe getting wet, cuz the water is on the outside, but say that i converted it to short ram, wouldn't the filter suck up all the water if i immediately drove my car?

you should be fine unless you really hit the filter hard with water. Worst case ....let is dry for a few hours before you turn the car on ..... or take the filter off and use a hair dryer if you really think its bad and need to use the car. ....bottom line .. you should be fine either way

when you use any blower to dry it, blow it from the inside of the filter

you will be fine, i drove 250 miles with my cold air in the rain with the plastic vent deal on the drivers side removed and had no probs. the filter was even dripping water onto my hand when we got home.

The only way an intake will suck up enough water to kill the car is if you submerge your car like 6 inches so the intake sucks in all water and no air. It takes a lot of work to suck up enough water through like 3 feet of a 3" diameter pipe...and rarely happens.

bro dont wrry about it...even if ur filter feels a little wet ur stll fine..unless its like damp...u dont even need to dry it...
i was scared too that my car would hyrdolock...but everyoens right...think about it...how would water get into the intake..unless 1. your car is acctually on so air is getting sucked(yours was off , so uless u put the hose directly into it)
2. it has to be submerged..how else would it get in

ull be fine man

alright, thanks guy. it's good to feel a lot better knowing about this stuff. but to be on the safe side, i might lay or cover my filter when in short ram, with a towel to protect it from any water splashes that my get on it when i wash my car.

No, not really I have the Injen CAI and work at at Toyota Dealership, and we have a automatic car wash for customers.
I was my car twice a week there, and I keep the car running while in the wash and no problems.

If you think about it, the "inverted snorkel" of something like the Injen CAI has a relatively long pipe DOWN into the fender. That's a really long distance for water to travel upwards. Not only that, but as long as you're not bawling out of the car wash at WOT, I don't see how there could be much of an issue. Given the low restriction inherent in the design of a CAI, the amount of vacuum "suck" in that pipe is low.

If you're thinking of going SRI, another idea would be to run the car and get the engine up to temp JUST before you wash the car. The additional heat in the engine bay will dry things out faster afterwards. And if you're in doubt, take the filter off afterwards and check the piping.

Just do whatever makes you feel comfortable. Some say any water is bad some say it will take a 40day flood to have any damage occur. Untill it happens to you there is no yes or no it will happen answer.
