Do i have to worry about anything with it? water? life expectancy of intake? etc etc.
I am a newbie... help is much appreciated
here is a photo I got in an email...of the weapon-r intake installed on a tC.

I got it and its pretty nice. No regrets because of it. I'm a daily driver with 51K and its just fine for me. No water in mine, and its still kickin like Van Damn... hope that helped. Your most likely going to get an onslaught of opinions though. There was a post somewhere comparing a bunch of different intakes. Do your research, I would reccomend that. I'll vouch for that intake though.

Stu_Gotti ...
did you just pop in on out of the box... or did you get any conversion kits? run hoses anywhere?

thanks for the opinion.. this is very encouraging.

I am def gonna get the cold air box that you can put over it.. to shield it from some heat too!

Straight out of the box.. You'll have to remove the stock box, and un-clip a few things. It took me about 10mins. No conversion kits, only hose your going to run is from your head (when looking at your engine its on the front top right side) with the hose they provide. You'll have to cut it to the correct length.. easy to do. I dont have the box, and dont know anything good or bad about it. Hope it helps.

I looked into the WR one, and I've never heard any complaints from it... as far as I know, any damper should do.

Overall what would you guys say is the best intake to use on an automatic? To clarify, my definition of best is lowest torqe loss and some measurable HP gain. Right now I am running a Weapon-R Secret intake, and as many dyno tests have shown there is a significant loss in low end power. I think im torn between the Umnitza & Injen now. I do like the look, fitment and high-end pull of the Weapon-R but such a loss of TQ on the Auto which already lacks to the 5-speed is just disapointing and sad compared to stock. Anybody have dyno numbers of HP & TQ on an Auto? Please post!

All of the intake dynos show the Injen intake as being the best by far, especially in torque. That would be my recommendation.

If you did some research you'd maybe also see that less than 7 days ago Stu was also trying to get Weapon R to pay for his engine rebuild that Toyota blamed on the intake dumping metal shavings into the engine and was refusing to do under warranty. Just worth mentioning. ;)

Injen end of story.

The umnitza is a cone filter with a large CF cold air box type thing. Nothing else. It uses the stock piping. You're paying for the CF shroud. if that's your thing, go for it.

If I was to get a new intake (see my post above for why I probably won't) I'd get an Injen.

I dont know if I would say that exactly.. WR did in fact have metal shavings in my intake tubing.. I am sure that it did in fact scratch up my cylinder walls some.. but I know they shouldn't have had anything to do with my crank.. I am sure that this is something that the factory messed up.. something to do with tourque specs.

I still like my WR Intake.. I just didn't realize that I had flakes.. other than that.. I still enjoy it.. I haven't dyno'd my tC, so I dont know what i'm putting out.. but I still dont think I've experienced this "lag" that everyone is experiencing.

I know, I wasn't saying anything other than the fact that people need to be aware that 'some' dealerships will do ANYTHING to get work you might need doing out of warranty and force you to pay for it.

People just assume that putting on an intake is fine and dandy. It doesn't matter if the intake cuases the issue, it matters in the dealership can prove (or as in Stu's example just say very loudly that it cuased the issue).

Just be aware, take precautions, check everything before you install, and take off everything you can and go back to stock if something goes wrong.

Here are my Auto Dynos, Alphawerk header and Injen in short ram format never did try cold air. Selling my Injen used for 1 month only NIB for 170 by the way

I dynoed my Alphawerks Header and Injen intake recently on hot ___ hell day here in South Florida 97 DEGREES!!! inside the shop lol their ac took a crap.. Take a look at the A/F ratios im using the antifouler mod. 4sp auto TC.
Old dyno on a nice 80 degree day. Only mod was a K&N drop in filter, the Injen axleback is on the title ,but wasent installed at the time. A/F ratios are a bit rich as you can see.
Recent dyno again disregard the title, temp is accurate 97 degree. Only mods were Alphawerks Header and Injen Short ram stock exhaust took off injen exhaust due to rasp . Second run the last run was the best at 142hp 145 tq but i couldnt get that saved. A/F ratio just a bit leaner.
