Default weird sounds after installing header and catback

Hello SL,

I was hoping someone could provide some insight; just got a tsudo header and catback installed but now the car has this weird rattling sound; almost as if the catback is vibrating and hitting metal; but not all times. Once i start reving, i wont hear it but when im still you can. should i go back to the shop and ask them to take a look? its very loud and annoying. is this normal? cause i dont think so

thanks everyone!!

If it sounds like something is actually rattling and making metal-metal contact, I would have them take a look and confirm it is installed OK.

jack your car up and do a visual inspection. make sure your car has been off and cooled. just grab the pipe from under and shake it back and forth to see where it maybe hitting. also check to see if the proper size gaskets/donut gaskets were used.

i heard that on the older tsudo catbacks that the midpipe wasnt made correctly and the resonator is hitting the heatshield bolt underneath.

The black crossbar with the holes made mine rattle, so I just took that off and it no longer rattles for me. This crossbar is underneath the midpipe towards the middle-back section of the car.

160 for a header and exhaust install? sheesh. you can do it with basic tools and knowledge in like an hour...

just grab it and rattle that thing around and see where its hitting. you might have to get longer hangers...i bought one for my exhaust cuz it was burning my bumper

Ok so i went to shop; first of all had to argue a bit with the guy cause he wanted to charge me $35 just to lift my car but anyways....I got him to do it for free

Once the car was up, i checked the front area and didnt see anything; the only thing we saw that was having contact was the axle back section the curve was hitting the frame (its very very close) mecanic guy told me that the exhaust system its not for the car cause its an inch short; I argue a bit since i didnt think our tc changed length from year to year.

i asked him if longer hangers will fix that he told me no. Only thing i could do was to get a piece of stainless steel that he could weld and it should clear it.....or buy an axle back and add it to it to see if it fits correctly.

Any ideas or suggestions please i dont want to spend on another exhaust

so did you get it new or used? if used then it might have been bent out of spec during shipping or when someone had it on the first time. post pics.

Am I right; that the lenght of the tc doesnt vary from year to year; even on the new tsudo catbacks it says 04-09

I kept asking him if i get new hangers wouldnt it drop a bit more and the guy told me no since its a rigid exhaust and that if i did that, since im drop that ill problably kill the exhaust with the first bump i go over...... He also told me to cut a section of the frame that its hitting the exhuast.. is that safe? will it affect my suspension or ride???

Also he advise of adding an inch or 2 to the exhaust, that way it will be pushed back and not hitting that section of the frame

i thought that it was going to be easy

OMG the other mecanic SCKED!!!! super FAIL!!! I went to the shop that my buddys usually go to ( didnt do initially since its far from work) once i get there i tell the guy whats going on. First he checks the front part....the mecanic left one of the sensors completely loose WTF!!! boom done deal and in the back the guy looked a bit told me that he can put a support right on the frame boom no more noises. $20!!! the other mecanic wanted to cut frame and ____!!! if you are in orlando area just go to roadrunners they know what they are doing!!!
