Default What happened to Alphawerks?

I used to see their headers all over ebay for dirt cheap, and everybody used to talk about them...

Where did they go? Megan has taken over?

Anybody know a good place to buy one cheap?

That's a good question... They use to be on scionlife, and they were suppose to come out w/their own S-Pipe/Other Products, but have disappeared into the blue. I still have my alphawerks header sitting in my room (opened up) but never installed.

Hopefully I can decide soon, I may have an AW Header(+OEM Gasket) & ZPI S-Pipe (+Antifouler) combo (Open Box) to sell if I go the turbonetics way. Well see, I'll keep you in mind if that so happens.

Anyways back to the question... can anyone answer this?

its because everyone bashed it!!!

why did you tink megan made a 2nd type of header? because they bashed the 1st set saying it was weak, didnt produce al ot of hp etc etc

forums + new car + 1st product type = A LOT of bashing. very discouraging. so they kinda called it quits.

i have the AW header. i love it. who cares about the rasp or buzz. most 4-1 header will make that noise.

Agreed...I have nothing but good things to say about my AW header. Fitment (except lower mounts), looks and performance are all great. I think it produces the most rasp because it just flows better than the other 4-1 designs. Install a larger resonator and youre good to go with just about any exhaust system.

if anything AW is by far one of the more superior Headers on the market for the tC. I heard that the MMW header has more gains but is alot more expensive. If you want great gains for cheap go with the AW. I bought mines for under $300. As for the Rasp, your hearing the sound of PERFORMANCE and its beautiful. The gains are great through out the powerband and increase your overall performance and response in acceleration.

The megan header had some problems in the beginning. I've read posts of their cat would come off. I guess the welds were done ____ty and so people were complaining that their CAT would fall of due to faulty welds. I dunno if they have fixed that problem. But anything with the "Megan" logo is a NONO for me. I know several HONDA owners that purchased MEGAN products and heard that they are all crap.

So beware before you buy. Make sure you do all the research. I originally didn't want ALPHAWORKS because I've never heard of em. But in actuallity they are the best bang for you buck. Installation is fairly simple, just remove the stock exhaust manifold and replace the gasket and bolt on the new one. Fitment wasn't perfect to the stock brackets near the S-pipe. I jus said "____ it" and didn't bolt the AW header to the brackets. I think they're useless anyway.

Well, I have the AW header and I read a lot of good reviews, but they make a rattle noise at 3000 rpm and up. I do like the way it was built and believe it is a well made product but it really needs to be updated with more R&D. Unfortunately it is made in Taiwan.

The rattle noise is the rasp produced just like any header on the tC. As stated earlier in this thread a larger resonatoer will eliminate it.

Other people had problems with the pipes rattling together.

Nobody proved it was rattling pipes and nobody has posted that welding the pipes together or wrapping with heat wrap made any difference. I tried the heat wrap an it made no difference whatsoever.

Very true. But seriously what happened to them. They had a Throttle body, turbo manifold, and header...now I see nothing from them..

like i said, AW had products but many people dissed them because nobody liked the rasp compared to the megan header which didnt rasp. so people bashed AW like they bashed TCTUNERZ (please do not comment about them). AW still sells parts for the TC. they just dont advertise or read this forum anymore.

teh AW TB is 1-2mm bigger so its pointless and wil give no gains for NA people (i talked to AW about it and tahts there response).

they still have there turbo manifold and header.

hey, I did two things to try to mellow out my header noise I am or should I say 'we' are experience. First I had a Magna Flow high flow cat/resonator installed in place of the second cat. That made the exhaust sound more tolerable; the rattle noise or rasp noise is still there. It is true that the primary tubes are touching. I had my friend separate them to see if that would solve the problem, but no go.. This thing was just not audibly tuned for sound but for performance. I believe the new gen Megan would not make that noise because the primary tubes look like they are equal length when they reach the collector.
