what should i do next?
i'd personally go with the shifter just b/c I am so fed up with the long throws on the shifter. If I werent so frustrated with it right now, I would say the CAI, but i'm finally getting a shifter and looking forward to it. Thats the one thing that I liked most when driving a friends 350Z. I can deal with the power loss going back to the tC, but the shifter and clutch make me wanna trade it in. Thats why I say the shifter

No, its not THAT bad, but compared to a 350Z or Z4 for example, it is THAT bad lol. Its much easier to do something about the shifter than the clutch (which I dont think is too bad, just the throw on the clutch is too long). Dont get me wrong, its a better shifter than a sentra or civic, but I really like nice tight short throws. Like was said, the cai is more for looks (if anyone ever looks under the hood), and sound.
The shifter is more of a performance upgrade than the intake is IMO.

Hmm.. I've driven a Z4 and was not impressed by the shifter feel at all. It was all loose and rubbery.
I agree with you on the intake not really being about performance though. All that sound just makes it seem faster.
