I'll second that... you're probably reving too high or driving too fast.

But you could also check your tire pressure, get an alignment, make sure your air filter is clean and you're getting all of your maintenance done. They will all make a difference if you have no mods.

How much are you getting, mpg?

A little of it may be how fast you drive, but even more is how quickly you try to get to your desired speed.

(I've kept records, and even though I herd a box, I can see more than a 12 MPG difference between driving sensibly and driving like I stole it...) :D

Now I have to say that I have seen this topic posted several times on this forum and low and behold the same answers are always posted...."Lay off the Gas"
But guys (and girls) lets face it the tC is not the Xa or Xb when it comes to gas mileage. Actually the tC sucks, sure its rated at around 30 mpg on the highway. But nobody is getting this. Its more like 25 at most. It is no where near its sister car the Corolla at 40 mpg highway.
Sure a heavy foot cannot help things but the car is also not the most efficent to begin with.

If you stay on the right, accelerate only a little, maintain your distance with the guy infront of you so you dont hit the brake alot, top your speed @75mph. You will get 30+ mpg. Especially if you hit the highway a lot.

What do you get mpg? I get 26-29 mpg constantly (290ish to 330ish until light is on, usually around 11-12 gallons).

You guys must be crazy...or I have a tC that is on the top-end of the six-sigma scale.

I regularly get 32-34 mpg, shifting at 2800 about 90% of the time. The rest of the time, I actually drive my car as quick as it will go (before the flaming starts, I know this car is not quick). The only mod I have is the AEM Cai (blue, fyi), and I still have all of the "factory weight" in the car (spare, etc.), plus all of my golf clubs, shoes, and so forth.

My driving is about 75% highway, at 80 mph with the air on. The rest is driving to the local golf courses and such. Even on my first tank of gas **edit - first tank of gas on the intake, about 50 miles after the 5000 mile oil change** (70% city), 100% throttle (lol), I still hit 26.3 mpg.

Craziness...

The tC was never advertised to be incredibly fuel efficient. It's no Prius or xA for sure. I get at least what's on the sticker and that's what I expect. If you're get MUCH less than sticker - you either drive a LOT of city driving, something is wrong (tires, alignment, filters?), or you're driving it wrong.

!!! wtf.

Im only get like 16.6MPG!!!!

Although, I rarely do highway driving, and most of my destinations are within 5-10 minutes (who thought living close to everything would end up being expensive for me)

This is only the second tank of gas I've filled up in it.

I don't think I drive too crazy, and for sure im not stomping on the pedal (cars way to fast for that)

I take turns at fast speeds as to not have to brake and what not.

Man, my 4 cylinder 92 camry gave me better gas mileage.
