wideband bung location with supercharger?

I have purchased a innovate wideband gauge and was wondering where I should weld in the o2 sensor bung. Innovate manual says to install it before the cat and thats about it. I have read that several people install it on their s pipe but that is for turbo. I still have the oem header with cat.

Should I weld the bung on the header where the first oem o2 sensor is, if so should I weld it on a different cyclinder?
OR
Should I just weld the bung in the s pipe?

THANKS!!

you can install it close to your oem O2 sensor or like what innovate manual says.. you should be good anywhere before the cat

what would be the possible disadvantages of having it after the primary cat? does it just not give as good of a reading?

I got the same question!

Thorium06 12-18-2009 04:17 AM

yeah i have just been running mine in place of my secondary o2 sensor, it seems to read fine, but i have a bung i was going to put in soon, so if it makes a difference i wont weld it to the s-pipe like my original intention

any other thoughts out there?

Blue_TC_Man 12-18-2009 09:40 PM

I mean a cat cleans emissions thats the purpose of it. If you put it after the cat it will not give an accurate reading as a lot of the burnt fuel fumes it reads have been removed

Thorium06 12-18-2009 11:12 PM

well that complicates things for using the oem header, there doesnt seem to be much room above the cat

Blue_TC_Man 12-19-2009 12:36 AM

dont use the OEM header?? or just install the bung under the primary theres room

b52hDUNN 12-19-2009 01:17 AM

I wanted to stay with the oem header. ^may just put it in that location.

Thorium06 12-19-2009 01:41 AM

yeah i wanted to stay with the oem header too, as im really close to the sound limits for the events i run, plus i like the sound of it now. il probably just keep it in the secondary bung, it seems to get a decent signal, i never thought twice about it until now

b52hDUNN 12-19-2009 01:55 AM

^ dang. now I can decide... the header will be a pain and the s pipe will be much easier. may just weld it in the s pipe since it is working out for Thorium06.

Blue_TC_Man 12-19-2009 02:21 AM

I mean its not really a big deal, but it will be a slightly different reading

b52hDUNN 12-19-2009 02:33 AM

^ I'm assuming you are guessing that it may be a different reading. Guess the only way to tell is to try out both locations.

Blue_TC_Man 12-19-2009 03:07 PM

I mean it will be different as cars clean the emissions, how big of a difference, IDK the cat on the header is a precat so it is just an extra cleaning unit, so I dont know how much it actually filters

any other ideas?

o2 sensor bung welded to the s pipe in front of the oem o2 sensor. Getting good numbers!

Thorium06 12-23-2009 11:23 PM

what are you picking up at idle?

b52hDUNN 12-23-2009 11:26 PM

Idle 15.3
partial throttle 14.5
3/4 throttle 12.0
full 10.2

Thorium06 12-23-2009 11:34 PM

cool that what i usually get too, exept it seems you run very rich at full throttle, i have it tuned to be around 12.3 and tail down to 11.9 towards the top when i reach 8-10psi
