Default Will you buy the TRD SC?

With so many people screaming about delays with release, it's interesting to know how many are really ready to shell out the $$$ for it. Let's assume it would cost $3000-3500 installed for the simplicity of this experiment.

Yes...as long as it provides decent power gains. If the rumour of it only increasing hp by 40 is true then I'll probably pass.

should be around 50 to 65 HP increase, and I'm still torn between the TRD SC, and a turbo kit. I'll probably end up going with the TRD SC though, once it proves to be worth the 3k +.

yeah it really depends on the power gains and how much it is going to cost parts + install.

If it is 40hp for around 3000 then no way. If it is an increase of 50-60 then maybe...if it is better than 60Hp gain then for sure I will get it installed...I have the cash.

But still it needs to be around 3000.00 to 3500.00 installed or I will pass...Or install it myself and then get the CPU flashed at a dealer.

If you shop around it should be under $3K for parts and $500 install. Dealers in my area were giving me quotes ranging from $900 to $1500 for install of Matrix SC, took 2 dozen phonecalls to find a dealer 40 miles away that did the job for $450 and gave me a loaner. tC's install will be easier - I did not see a 5th injector in the kit, so it will save about an hour since they won't have to splice into a pressurized fuel line and run injector wiring through the firewall...

It's a 40 HP gain. Talked to my friend who works at Toyota.

It's really not worth the 3 grand guys

Follow me, and get the GReddy Turbo Kit!

It's a BEAUTIFUL kit, I already ordered mine, and it arrived at my friends show 2 weeks ago

no way will you get 50-65 hp out of a supercharger for a 4 cyl. it takes a very large supercharger to get 75-100 hp out of a V8. Plus superchargers run at about 7 psi at best. One good thing about the supercharger is that it is always on through the whole power band.
for the money and warranty is not important to you turbo is the way to go.

Buddy, 1.8L 1ZZ-FE toyota engine gains about 55 wheel hp (auto base matrix is about 105 at the wheels, supercharged it was 159.x whp).

That's not somebody telling me - it was my own car ;)

did some more research, http://www.caranddriver.com/default....agModel=MATRIX
read the capsule review hp comes in 123 hp or 130, so even if it kicked it up to 159 thats 36 hp not even 40.
sorry i am just a bit skeptical

here are the dynos of one of the guys with auto SC'd matix. I'll get mine scanned if there is still a need. Search the site - there are dozens of people with these numbers.

wheel horsepower vs. crank horsepower.

The numbers you will see on people's dyno sheets are at the wheels. Numbers in car specs are crank hp. Do crank - 20%(or more) auto drivetrain loss and you will get wheel hp stock...

so what are the #'s off of the TRD website
the crank? and hp at the crank should be highet than at the wheels right?

also do you have a dyno of a base run before the s/c and after not just after?

i was reading up on the matrix board and from what i can tell most of them had to buy some other stuff to get thoes kinda #'s? such as water injection (i dunno what that is) and A/F controller (a gain of 20hp to get it out of safe mode) , unichip, CAI, new plugs and wires.
on the dyno there was TRD exhaust, hyper ground, water injection and a header and it looks as if it ran much smoother after taking off the CAI
so it is still difficult to say the supercharger put out 55whp I think its like 40- to maybe 45 with proper tunning

I have a good idea...... lets just wait and see like everyone else has to ....lol

Once the install is done I'll post the pics and specs. We're not installing it yet being it's still winter, but yet this weather is very weird lately.
