Default Wow what an easy install...

So last week i ordered the trd exhaust from scionpartspeople.com. It came in yesterday. Today i pulled it out and everything and said... what the hell, let's try and do it today... it took me literally 30/40 minutes. the hardest part was the rubber hangers, but a little car soap, and it slid right off.

the exhaust was a little softer than i anticipated. It definitely sounds good though. deep low growl. at first i was a little disappointed that it wasn't louder (i used to drive a mustang w. dual flowmasters) but now that i think about it, i like it a lot. i figure once i put a header on (this is way in the future) it will get a lot louder.

i have a quick question for all of you. after driving it for a little and then getting out, there was a faint smell of something burning... nothing too bad. did you guys have this? my friend said that his did the same thing... that it was just the metal heating up. plus the fact that i put soap on the metal to . should i be worried? i tightened it up pretty good, but i didnt have a torque wrench on hand... please let me know your experience... thanks!

if anyone wants pics, i got plenty...let me know[/b]

Try getting an intake. It should sound a bit louder.

From my experience, the TRD exhuast gets a bit louder after some time. It sounds good though, just wish they made a full catback instead of just an axle-back.

NO. the burning is the guts of your new exhaust.

The smell is normal on almost any exhaust, (Depending on the materials the exhaust is made of) After a few weeks the exhaust will stop smelling, and yes after a few weeks maybe even a few months (Again, depending on the materials the exhaust was made of) it will get louder.

Default That smell is probably some rust inhibiter buring off

Lots of parts that sit in storage are coated with a rust inhitbiter that will heat up and burn off on any part that gets hot - like your exhaust. Nothing to worry about.

Its a normal thing. Like the others said, theres a coating on the exhaust that needs to be burned off. You want it to be louder? Sleeper is the way to go.

nice..i wish trd made a full catback..how much does the axle back put out? also if ur planning to put on a header, a lotta ppl said that its not gonna give u the sound u want. it was te AW header..they said it made it really raspy and not the kind of sound that you are lookin for.

I have the TRD too... would it benifit at all if i have a stainless steel midpipe made...... but still keep the flanges? I dont want to weld everything up for easy removal. I figured i do that with a new s-pipe........... and headers.
