Yup,,a balance shaft question
After reading, reading and more reading...and searching, searching and more searching I cannot find the answer that I am looking for...If I remove the balance shafts do I need to run a balance crank pully such as an ACI or can I use the factory crank pulley??....And if I decide to reinstall them what is the oreintation of the shafts to the sprocket to the chain??
Please no smart ___ comments,,Im not a 17yr old kid thats looking to make my ricer more "cool", this car is a weekend/autocross toy.

Well, to start off, in the time I owned my tC I never had to pull the motor so I'm not aware if the tC motor even had balance shafts? I just rebuilt a 1ZZ-FE Celica motor for my buddy and it did not have balance shafts to begin with, so that is my first question if someone can answer that.
To answer your question, I've done plenty of balance shaft removals on motors, my most recent was on my Evo and the correct way to go about removing balance shafts is to have the internals (crank, rods, pistons) and the flywheel and crank pulley balanced at a machine shop. Now that really only matters if it is not the factory internals that came with the block but still a good idea if you get it all balanced. Seeing as that is a lot of time, money and work you really don't need to do all that, other than obtaining the correct balance shaft removal kit. You shouldn't have to get a different pulley either. The motor may send a little more vibration throughout the car after the shafts are removed but it wont be anything significant. Hope this helps.

There is no balance shaft delete kit......unless it envolves a thread tap, a plug and some jb weld,,,,,,,I know that the motor internals are balanced already,, so that part will not need to done,,the balance shaft just keeps the vibration down in the cabin,,,,,,Im not so worried about that as much,,just wanna cross my T's and dot my I's before removing them or deciding to put them back in,,,,,I was asking about an external balancer just to be on the safe side of things, or if it would just be a waste of $.
