Default ZPI Valve Body Upgrade Installed!

Hi there,

I am a pretty experienced mechanic but I never have really messed around with the tranny... well today, I got my Valve Body upgrade from ZPI and decided to do it myself... I installed a turbo, How hard could this be I asked myself...

When I dropped the Valve body out, the piston things came falling along with springs and the check ball body thing.

I have looked at https://www.scionlife.com/tech/manual/?manual=tc05_1797

I understand what they are telling me to do, but what springs go in what holes and where does the Check Ball go!

If anyone requires pictures I can provide some tomorrow.

Anyone else experience this?

I'm sure they would have, but I figured it out already.

I have to wait until noon today to drive it though since the gasket material is still setting.

I will let you all know how it went later

Well I have driven about 70 miles so far on the new valve body, and to be honest, it is not that noticeable...

Isn't it supposed to shift differently or feel a lil different when shifting?

Maybe I'm delusional...

Supposed to shift harder and faster when you floor it. Also supposed to be able to hold more power

Hmm; well according to ZPI: "By upgrading the valve body we have not only generated a faster shifting harder shifting transmission but with this a tranny that can hold 55-60% more than stock."
With that said I believe you should notice the difference under full throttle.
How much boost are you running; I'm running 9PSI and if I don't let off the gas before it redlines my tranny takes forever to shift. When I was running 5PSI the tranny shifted fine. I would think with the upgrade installed the tranny should shift quicker (as advertised) so maybe up the boost and see how it feels (if you're running low boost). Or you can just take it back out and send it over to me so I can try it out and I'll let you know if it makes a difference.

Yea, actually, it took awhile to break in, bout 200 miles.

Now i can tell the difference in shifting, it seems to be more firm when shifting. 2nd gear still has a hard time changing to 3rd just like the car was stock.

It seems like sometimes it shifts faster than other times, kinda inconsistent.

Overall I am happy with it, plus it will allow my tranny to hold more hp
