This is part of a Bulletin sent to us by TRD. Just thought you guys should read this.

Yeah, make sure that the dealer has one. They cost a little over $500 for the dealer to purchase. Its a new tool, so not every dealer will have one

 

Every dealer should be aware of this, I would not be alarmed... This was brought up when the availability of the S/C was first made over a year ago.

 

lol.. they barely informed the dealers of this lol.. i hope most dealers will have this tool by the time i decide to get my S/C

We dont have ours, not planning on getting one until a customer buys a S/C.
Looks like they'll get it in a few months when I get mine lol.

 

We have one, if anyone needs/wants a reflash, we can do it for a nominal fee.

 

You would be surprised at some of the calls I get.

Out of 1421 dealerships only 152 actually bought the tool to do the flash. So I would suggest that you check around to see who has one.

The $45 kit that scionterritory.net has listed it not the flash tool. It's the part # for the automatic fit kit which IS NOT available and has no ETA on when it will be.

 

It's funny how that works. I know people that just call around and if they don't have the tool they don't get the business.

 

So far no one as seriously considered getting a SC for the TC at our store. Once we get an order in we'll buy the tool. No big deal.

 

I don't blame you, I wouldn't buy one unless you needed it. If a customer called and asked, I'd say yeah, we've got it... Then have it overnighted.

 

There has been quite a few people bragging about having a "self installed" S/C with no re-flash.... I knew that couldn't be good for the long term.

My dealer actually included the cost of the tool in my installation estimate. I was kinda ____ed so I talked to the service manager and he set his employee straight. If they don't have the tool, they must purchase it themselves and exclude it from the installation cost.

 

But the flash kills the torque....
Rather have a longer lasting engine though.

 

This maybe true but like you said I'd rather have a longer lasting engine & tranny.

 

We have ours at Allegheny Toyota in western PA. I dont think my service dept. has decided on a reflash charge, but PM me if you need one.

I remember when people begged me not to get reflashed and dyno it first.

but good to know that TRD still cares even after the product has been released

 

We've installed 3 superchargers, with the reflash on all of them.

If anybody needs a reflash and is in the Central Kentucky area let me know I'll find out what we would charge for just the reflash.

Or if you want the supercharger and want it installed by a dealersship that has actually done a few just let me know.
