I also share your want for a fast and realiable daily driver. I have had the experience of a fast car that was always in the shop. Thats why I am selling my TC this summer for a 06 WRX. Minor mods and it will be fast enough and realiable. Good luck it can be done, but with A LOT of MONEY.
ur not alone buddy.. im in the same boat... i had a turbo kit... got bit by the boost bug... so i bought a motor (to be dailydriven w/ boost)... gonna do some internals and P&P... and see where it takes me...but seriously... this is not cheap... you gotta get alot of stuff custom made and what not..especially if ur tryin to hit some 12s(safely)...
turbo is high maintainance (especially if the car is not built for boost)... gotta do a check up every day or even frequently... BUt... hey,.. you learn a hell of alot outta of experience right? Go turbo your car and hit 12s.. and give us some feedback man...

I think to hit 12's and keeping it a daily driver isnt the problem with money(given that youll need a decent amount), traction becomes a much bigger problem. Its a fwd car put down as much power as you want youll just end up spinning your tires. Sure you can put slicks on but that imo is no longer a dd. There is tons of ways to get power to the front wheels but most of them will not be optimal for dd and youll be sacrificing other things like cornering (if you put all the weight to the front for example)
IMO you can only go so far with a dd fwd without sacrificing other things. If you mean a 12 sec 1/4 mile on thats usable on the street the best bet is lighten the car, get low profile tires, and an lsd. W/e traction you get by then with the power is pretty much the limit to my knowledge I dont know what else you can put on to get better traction thats usable on the street from a dig.
Personaly I ve never cared that much about drag racing from a dig so Iam not too intersted with that. Iam more intersted from a roll and the biggestthing is corners I think what raamaudio is doing is awesome. (making the tc into a highspeed well cornering car.)

Personally, I just wanted to know .. I thank you for explaining some things Typhoon.
I dont think I will end up doing a 12 second street car, but rather a quick car that can handle well, as you explained.
I've been racing all my life, from Motocross (factory sponsorship, traveling all over the continent) to shifter karts , anddd I love going fast =)
Today I actually noticed LOTS of body roll (or TIRE ROLL LOL!! I HOPE NOT) when going on a tight on-ramp.
Anyways .. Im going to do something that includes turbo'ing my car. =)
thx 4 the help

Well I am going to be getting home in the next week or so and I will have to run my car at the track. I've done the most I could do with my money constraints. Pretty much all that i am going to run with is in my sig plus a grippier(sp?) set of tires with the only exception of me possibly getting the quaiffe LSD. When I do run it at the track I hope to get high 12s. Oh and this is my daily driver haha. One guinea pig coming right up.......
didnt say it wasnt possible I just said when you get a decent amount of power, with an lsd, grippy tires, and lighten up some parts like flywheel brakes wheels and so on you are pretty much at the limit of how much traction youll get with a ff dd. Beyong that youll need slick or lots of weight on the front tires.
hehe but regardless I hope you hit 12s. Dont forget to post a vid and some times your setup is pretty unique.

Normally maintenance on a stock tC would be oil changes, service checkups etc. Now if you were to TC or SC and wanted to keep it a safe daily driver, and had all the settings right and tuned correctly, what extra maintenance would be required to keep it operating as a daily driver?
