2az-fe with Nitrous
I've searched and came up with nothing. I'm interested in knowing how our 2az-fe engines handle the added pressure of, say, a 50-75 shot of nitrous.
I'm thinking about doing a 50shot with the zex wet shot kit with all the necessary items: Window switch, bottle warmer, purge, bottle opener.
Anyone had any engine malfunctions, codes thrown, spark plugs ruined etc???

Me and my friend are the only 2 I know of in NC running nitrous into our TC's. I'm running the dynotunenitrous system with a 35 shot (I'm an auto) and he is running a 50 shot on the street 75 on the track without issues. Make sure you know what you are doing and do alot of research. Took me about 4 months to finish my set up and tune it as neccessary. A Window switch would be perfect especially with out knowing much about the nitrous system. PM me if you have any specific questions or anything I'll be glad to help.
And yes it is a way to cheat however it is cheaper than a turbo for my dd and I usually only need it at the track. Just a matter of function over form.

paulie ive yet to hear of anyone throwing codes from nitrous. I think you would be okay man.
All I know about nitrous, is that it makes engines run like crap! I adopted my older bro's dormant '97 Tiburon after my Honda was stolen, and boy was it in bad shape. The auto transmission needed a rebuild, the fuel pump was coated in rusty, red fuel, and one of the spark plugs had blown up.
I knew he ran nitrous, but since it was his highschool/college car, he probably beat the ____ out of it and wasn't safe with the N20.
I'm like superwhiteTC. My TC is more of a cruiser. I'd only spray once in a blue moon against that dreaded late 80's civic hatch
...and of course on the track.

Not really. Nitrous is about as close as you can get to na power. There is no ramping up. So a 300whp nitrous car will smoke a 300whp turbo car. So nitrous isn't weak its just dangerous and expensive
Hmm, never really seen many nitrous cars personally so I don't have any experience. I just thought it just gives you a specific HP kick for a several seconds. My Prelude friend has a 100 shot, direct port, etc. I never felt it but I want to so bad, but like you said, it's dangerous. If it's dangerous, I wouldn't go with nitrous at all. Too expensive to fix if something went wrong.

Boost is not much safer. Altho it is safer not by much if the nitrous is done right. No nitrous is nothing like in the fast an the furious. You get the hp from nitrous for as long as your bottle is full.

Also it depends alot on the amount of bottle pressure you have which is built up from your bottle warmer. If you spray nitrous into your system and your bottle is cold you won't feel a thing. That is because there is no pressure built up to push your engine. When you add heat you make the molecules go crazy, giving you your power.

I would not be so sure on that.

Which is why you see guys holding blow torches pointed at the bottle.
But using a blow torch actually weakens the bottles structural integrity, so its not recommended. The bottle could explode if heater with a torch for too long, so use a specific bottle warmer.
Yeah dont heat with a torch get a freakin walmart heating pad at least and a PSI gauge so you know when to go. Nitrous is fun as hell and your tC can definitely take the 75 shot as long as nothing is half a$$ed. Go with ZEX and whoop some tail! I had a 75 shot on my auto and it was fun times. 50 should give a pretty good effect on a manual so try that out first. Good luck!

Since I'd be savign money over going the turbo route, I'll be able to have it installed properly and tuned correctly. Of course I would love to put on a full turbo kit, but there's other things I still want to do to my car. I hardly race the thing, but it would be nice to have a bit of extra power if I needed it.
I think the 2az-fe engine is a well built motor. Great to hear that no one has had problems with nitrous!
