thats right......did it in 45 minutes and only lost 2 of them little spring holders...what what. This thing was a piece of cake to take out.

 

gingles why did you take apart your head? i thought you were just going to do your block?

 

I've pulled the entire engine and transmission from my car in 1.5 hours... I mean I've pulled it out 4 times so I've kinda gotten the hang of it. Last night i drop the transmission alone and it actually took longer. lol

But there isn't much to the head I don't see what the excitement is all about.

 

i had to take the head out to get to the head studs and im replacing the valve stem seals while its out.......they came with the toyota gasket set i ordered.....im not upgrading anything in the head still though

 

i kinda wanna have a bored day and just take my head apart lol

 

im cleaning it with a toothbroosh and purple power.......this sucks

 

careful with the purple power...if thats the same ish i remember it eats aluminum....i soaked some pistons in a bucket of that stuff and came back 8 hours later and they had like some white crap growing from em....just ruined the pistons, had to buy new ones....you can use it i guess if your quick about it but every time iv tried it would oxidize the aluminum no matter how quick i was with it...

 

Brake cleaner works wonders, I used that stuff like crazy!

its cheaper than carb cleaner and is still pretty much the same ish. but i have always made sure it was the chlorine free brake cleaner

 

oh and a bucket of chem-dip....great stuff but dont dare get that ish on your hands and wait to clean it off....ish will destroy plastic...lol

 

use gasket remover..........my roommate laughed at all the work i was doing..l....use gasket maker from the green can....spray it on and let sit for 10 minutes then scrub it off.......bling bling _____

 

simple green works wonders too. I love that stuff. You should get in their and give it a nice port and polish.

 

does anyone have any of the retainers that hold the springs down?......i lost 8 of them ill pay and need them now

 

you mean keepers? check with paul or mr.C

 

id buy new ones for sure, they are cheap and inexpensive.

 

or the disks that sit ontop of the spring(aka spring retainers)
