AEM F/IC MAP Sensor Fail

So for about 5 mins, I couldn't figure out why my AFRs stayed at 14.7 no matter what vac/boost I was at. My tune has been perfect for nearly a year now. I decided that after checking under the hood, it had to be something with the F/IC. So I hoped it was just a loose connection or possible needed a re-flash but no, the sensor is just unresponsive. I'll be buying a new one tomorrow one way or another but was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if AEM will do anything about it? Thanks in advance.

what iv noticed is those rubber lines on the inside of the fic are not real tight...ill post up a pic of what iv done. also if the nipple on the fic is loose (ther is a backing nut that can come loose if twisted too much) you could end up twisting the line to the map sensor off. if you dont feel like taking the fic appart you can simply take your vac line off of the fic and blow into the nipple, you shouldnt be able to blow through it but if you do the lines have come loose.

the white vac coupler looks like a filter so there is a chance it is clogged

also try connecting the fic to your laptop/desktop and blow on the nipple see if readings change.

it works both ways bro...lmao

I've already had it apart and tried everything to get the MAP to register and it won't budge. I've disconnected the two hoses inside the F/IC and blew threw the one closest to the sensor and nothing. Furthermore, it reads constant strong vacuum when it's not connected to anything instead of +/- 15 KPSIA.

ahh..ic..yeah it looks like your gonna have to haggle with aem about it and see if they will replace it or something.

crush02342002 04-12-2010 09:38 PM

here mine will read 14.7-14.9psia when not connected to a vac source..so your ambiant pressure is fairly similar to us.

let us know what aem says they will do

I have to ship it to them, pay 75 bucks for analysis and testing, then once the problem is officially determined, pay labor and fixing since I don't have it registered or anything for warranty. Besides, it's past a year anyways. I'll be selling it as soon as I get it back with all the certification paperwork from AEM.

i have a feeling the final cost will be around what the fic goes for

crush02342002 04-13-2010 04:05 PM

well that blows!

rangerryda 04-13-2010 04:52 PM

They'll call before they do the work. If it's way too expensive, then I'll just have them return it to me and I'll sell it for a nitrous setup or something. We'll see. Or at least I'll have a back-up lolz.

Hey crush, is there are part or serial number on the map sensor itself? If so, I may just swap it myself if possible depending on what AEM has to say. Just a thought.
